Journal (Records)
Hello Parents and Students,
I wanted to send you a timeline of events for the project we have been constructing in class.
This will give you an idea of your child's time management and where they are spending their
time. Please know that I am frequently (at least twice a class meeting) conferencing with your
child, so they have feedback and guidance for the next steps.
April 1 Began taking notes on the biomes (9)
April 8 Notes Due
April 10 Chains and Pyramids Due
April 13-24 Working on Biome pages (STAAR WEEK)
April 15 Biome pages due (Abiotic, Biotic factors with Food Chain and Pyramid for each
Biome)
April 17 Illustrations, maps (3) and zone pages are due
April 24 Pop Outs, Inserts, Sliders, Tools are Due (basically the entire book) - Will be counted
late if not turned into the teacher by the end of class on May 2nd.
The students will have the entire week in class to work on this project. There are several
objectives we are covering with this project. It is extremely important for your child to meet the
requirements on the rubric sent in the previous email. Please support their efforts as this is a
big undertaking. The best you can do to support them is ask to see it their project and have them
walk through the information. Several students are leaving their book in the classroom. If that's
your child, just ask them how it's going and support them working on extra credit at home, so
you can see the extension of their progress.
OBJECTIVES:
Safety and Effective Tool use
Abiotic and Biotic Factors
Flow of energy through Chains and entire ecosystems in biomes.
Relationship between organisms and their environment.
Biodiversity of organisms creates a stable environment based on abiotic and biotic factors.
