STUDENTS:
Our Ashes 2 Hope Project will take place this week – March 23rd thru 27th. There will be a
prize at the end of the week for 1st and 2nd place winners!
Double-point day items are below:
 Thursday – Toiletries (lotions, perfumes, deodorant, hair products, cosmetics)
 Friday - Toys
JUNIORS = The drawing will be TODAY = Thurs, March 26th! Maranda Residori is now
in the lead! Winner will receive (1) FREE Prom Ticket!
SPIRIT DAY – TODAY = Thursday, Mar. 26th – wear Black & Orange / GSW wear!
COLLEGE DAY – Friday, Mar. 27th – wear your favorite College Apparel!
Attention Students = We are now selling PROM TICKETS during lunch periods. If you
have A-Lunch, please see Mrs. Bashayreh to purchase your tickets. During B-Lunch,
please see a Junior Prom Committee member.
Prom Lock-In 2015 = Sign up forms are located in the main office. Money and forms are due
back by this FRIDAY – MARCH 27. The fee is $15 per ticket. Tickets include bus ride to &
from event, t-shirt and food! Location = Odyssey Fun World in Tinley Park.
Students = please remember that there should be NO food or drinks in the library and
especially by the computers.

The Annual Senior Auction will be held on April 8th during homeroom. The day of service will
be April 9th. So, get your money together and buy your favorite senior. This year all money
raised will go to the Batten Foundation to help with research of this condition. Any senior
wanting to sign-up, please see Mrs. A by this Friday. Any questions, see Mrs. A or any Senior
Student Council member.
Community Service needed = The Church of Hope is offering an opportunity for the students
who are in need of meeting their requirement for community service hours. They are holding
their community Vacation Bible School program the week of June 22 – 26, 2015. Hours are
from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to get 2 ½ hours each night. Please sign-up in
the main office.
Attention Freshman = If you think you would like to be an NHS member some day, you should
be doing Community Service NOW! Check out the Community Service opportunities in the
Daily Announcements. Sign-up sheets are located in the main office.
The Village of South Wilmington will be having their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sat, April 4,
2015 at 9:00 am. They are looking for 5-6 high school students that would be willing to help.
They would need to be at the VFW Park in South Willy around 8:30 AM and would be done no
later than 10:30 AM. If any of the citizenship students need community service hours this would
be a great opportunity. It will be a fun and easy job to help with...you would need to keep the
children back from collecting eggs before the siren blows and then help pass out prizes. Please
sign-up in the main office.
Community Service needed – The Elbow Benders are looking for up to 8 students to help work
their Annual Spaghetti Dinner being held on Saturday, May 2nd. They are also in need of
workers to sell raffle tickets (sit out in front of Berkott’s in South Willy). Please see main office
for further details.
Premier summer school referrals are now available in the guidance office. If you need to make
up credits or coursework this is the best way to do so. Premier is located in Morris and serves the
entire county. Available seats are filled on a first come first serve basis. To reserve your spot you
need to turn in a completed referral with a signature from Ms. Kilmer along with your payment
to the Premier Academy. See Ms. Kilmer for more information. Do not delay. Spots fill quickly!

Volleyball = Please stop by the main office to pick-up an information sheet about a Fundraising
opportunity that has been offered to the GSW volleyball team. Any questions, please see Amber
Eisha.

Coaches Comment: This was a matter of a better team making us look
bad. We looked slow and methodical. They are a very aggressive team
and they are going to win a lot of games this year. We have more work
to do. On the positive side, the girls went up to the plate and battled. I
was happy how we hacked at the plate.
CLUBS:
Congratulations to the GSW Math Team for winning the RVC Competition! This is the
teams’ fourth win of the season and makes them an undefeated team going into the State
Contest in May! Great job everyone!
GUIDANCE:
Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) if offering a summer
job program for high school students. Anyone interested, please see guidance. Application
deadline is April 10.
Washington University in St. Louis is having an Admissions Session on Sunday, April 26, at
the Chicago Marriott in Oak Brook, IL. See guidance for more info.
Seniors if you are interested in the Operations Engineering & Technician degree program at JJC
the application deadline is MARCH 31, 2015. Stop by the guidance office for more information.
Seniors - If you would like to attend college but are not sure your academic skills are at the
necessary level you should consider attending the Joliet Junior College Bridge Program this
summer. The program is Mondays - Thursdays June 15 - July 2 and will help students prepare
for credit in transferable coursework. Stop by the guidance office for a flyer or visit

Architecture Camp at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this summer = July 19-24. For
more information, see guidance.
Presence Kankakee Regional Volunteer Services is looking for students, 15 and older, to join
their summer Spirit of Teen mentoring program. It is a 7 week commitment starting Monday
June 8 - Friday August 7. Deadline for applications is May 29. For more information, see
Guidance Department.
Seniors planning to attend an Illinois college, there is a financial need based scholarship
application available in guidance office (Kendall-Grundy Community 2015 Scholarship).
Deadline is April 17.
Seniors - If you are interested in a career in the concrete program of the carpenter training center.
Stop by the guidance office for more information.
Elmhurst College is hosting a Jazz Combo Camp this summer June 17-19, 2015. Anyone
interested stop by the guidance office.
There is a NEW $1000 NURSING SCHOLARSHIP. Information is available in guidance
office.
Any JUNIOR interested in applying for an $8,000 scholarship to Lawrence Technological
University in Michigan, see guidance.
Joliet Junior College is now accepting applications for the NEW Operations Engineering &
Technician degree programs. Visit www.jjc.edu/info/operationsengineeringtech for more
information.
Seniors - If you plan to attend JJC next year be sure to apply for scholarships! Visit
www.jjc.edu/scholarships to get started. If you need more information stop by the guidance
office and pick up a flyer.
Students - If you plan to play a sport at the college level make sure you meet with Ms. Kilmer to
discuss the NCAA Clearinghouse. Student athletes at a Division I, II, or III institute must meet
rigorous academic requirements. Together we can review the courses you have taken and those
you plan to take to make sure you meet the necessary criteria.
If you plan to go to JJC before transferring to a 4 year college and you want to make sure that
your taking the classes that will transfer correctly you can attend a Transfer Success Info
Session. They are offered one Tuesday and Wednesday a month. For more information, please

If you are interested in attending an open house at the Midwest College of Cosmetology and
