2016 Dakota County 4-H Auction Scholarship Information The 4-H Auction scholarships are funded through Dakota County 4-H Livestock Auction funds received from the sale/donation of the last pen of rabbits/turkeys/ducks/geese/chickens. This last pen is sold and donated back to 4-H repeatedly until buyer interest diminishes. Money generated from this “sale” has allowed 4-H to offer college scholarships to deserving 4-Hers, in addition to paying for livestock-related equipment, state fair chaperone expenses, 4-H promotion supplies, project bowl buzzer systems and supplies for the county fair. Requirements and Information: 1. Applicants must be a high school senior graduating in 2016. 2. Applicant must be a current Dakota County 4-H member that will be attending an accredited college, university, community college or technical college as of fall quarter/semester 2016. 3. This scholarship is not limited to specific majors or universities. 4. 4-H members may be enrolled in any project area and do not have to exhibit at the state fair to be eligible. 5. Winners will be awarded the scholarship upon proof of completion of first semester at a post-secondary institution. 2016 Scholarship winners will be awarded $750.00. 6. Scholarships are awarded based on the content written in the application. All names are removed from the application so applications are anonymous when reviewed by the selection committee. 7. Scholarships are awarded based on scholarship selection committee review/scoring. Please note: The auction committee does not select scholarship winners. Scholarship winner expectations: 1. Scholarship winners will be expected to call potential auction buyers. This requires approximately 2-3 hours of phone work at the Extension Office prior to county fair. Script, names and numbers will be provided. 2.
