TOURNAMENT RULES-- 2015 VERNON COCA COLA VIPERS TIER 3 TOURNAMENT
1.
These rules are in addition to all Hockey Canada, BCAHA, and OMAHA rules in effect, including suspensions. They apply to all
players and team officials.
2.
Each team is guaranteed 4 games, 3 round robin and 1 playoff game.
3.
The home team is listed first on the schedule and will wear white or light colored jerseys. The home team shall be responsible for
changing jerseys in the event that the 2 teams scheduled to play are wearing similar colored jerseys. The home team will remain on the ice
at the ice clean and game end until the visitors have left the ice. If teams are using dressing rooms with common hallways team
officials will be responsible for their team's behavior in the hallways.
4.
Following the end of each r o u n d r o b i n game, after the handshakes, please have your team line up on their blue lines for the MVP
presentations. Each team’s coaching staff will be responsible for their own team MVP selection. Players can only be selected once.
MVP form will be provided.
5.
All ROUND ROBIN games will be 2 hours, three 20 minute stop time periods. A 5-minute warm up will start as soon as the ice is ready.
Zamboni off ice, Gates closed, officials on ice. Ice clean will be at the first stoppage in play after the 10-minute mark of the second
period. Teams shall b e dressed and ready to go on ice 15 minutes prior to scheduled game start. There is no overtime in the ROUND
ROBIN games. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.

Each team will be allowed one - 30 second time out per game.
7.
MERCY RULE in effect - if at any time during the 3rd period one team is 6 goals ahead, the remaining time shall be running time. If
the team behind scores to narrow the margin to 5 goals, stop time will be resumed. Minor penalties will be 3 minutes during run time.
8.
Team officials are responsible for the actions of their players on and off the ice at the arena facilities, teams are responsible for
leaving their dressing rooms clean after use, all garbage in garbage bins and no debris left on floors. LOCK YOUR DRESSING
ROOMS.
9.
In the event teams are tied at the end of round robin play, the TIE BREAKER will be: The result of round robin game or games
involving the tied teams will apply. If 2 teams are tied, then the winner of the round robin game between those teams will receive the
higher placing. If 3 teams or more are tied, the team with the best goals for minus goals against will advance, if teams are still tied then
it will go to the team with the least amount of penalty minutes. If teams are still tied after the above has been applied then the team
with the most goals in all round robin play will receive the higher ranking. If teams are still tied after the above methods the higher
placing will be determined by a single coin toss, by the rules committee.
10.
All FINAL GAMES will be 2 hours - 3 – 20 minute stop time periods with an ice clean at the first whistle after the 10-minute mark of
the 2nd period. If teams are tied at the end of regulation time, after a 1-minute break, proceed to a 5-minute stop time sudden death
period playing 4 on 4. If still tied proceed to a 3 player shootout, home team to decide which team to shoot first, if still tied proceed to
a sudden death shoot out. No player can shoot twice in either the shootout or the sudden death shootout until all other players have
shot, excluding goalies.
11.
Misconducts — Any player or team official receiving 2 misconducts will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.
12.
Match Penalty or Gross Misconduct — Any player or team official receiving a gross misconduct or match penalty will be suspended for
the rest of the tournament.
13.
Fighting — Any player penalized for fighting will be suspended for the remainder of the game plus the next game

All PROTESTS must be in writing with a fee of $250.00 non refundable, to the tournament director no later than 60 minutes after the
conclusion of the game. The tournament committee will deal with the protest immediately. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
15.
All games must finish on time. If the tournament gets behind schedule the tournament committee can at their discretion adjust the
remaining ice times and or run the clock at any time during round robin play, playoff, or final games to ensure the tournament runs
on time and within the allocated times. The decision of the tournament committee in this regard is final and cannot be protested.
