- as an active member of BPW Calgary - "Women working for women."
Mission of the Program
To create and grow formal supportive mentoring relationships amongst BPW Calgary
Members, that will make a positive impact in professional and personal lives of both the
mentors and protégées. To foster member relationships, and encourage networking and
support among professional women in Calgary.
Vision of the WISDOM BOOST 2016 Program
To grow and develop diverse mentoring relationships that will have a positive impact on
the professional and personal lives of the participants, as well as further enhance the
supportive and nurturing culture of the BPW Calgary organization.
Program Goals
 To support BPW’s cornerstones of leadership and professional development.
 To support BPW Calgary’s vision of empowering women to reach their full
potential.
 To showcase additional value of the membership benefits of joining BPW Calgary,
and foster new membership enrollments.
Program Design
Each year our program design builds on previous success and learnings. Our Mentorship
Program was nominated for the Best Practices Award in 2010 at the Institute of Canadian
Citizenship, and has continued to evolve each year adding new elements to stay
current and impactful.
WISDOM BOOST 2016 includes a full year of activities, to foster solid development
opportunities and robust mentor and protégée relationships. The framework elements
include a kick-off joint session in January 2016, supportive tools, 1:1 mentorship,
leadership mini-workshops (quarterly topics include: work-life balance, embracing
change, authentic leadership), regular touch-points, and diverse community and
networking activities.
The monthly BPW dinner meetings additionally add value for each mentor/protégée pair,
with topics from effective public speaking, time management and social media to personal
branding, talent management, financial planning and professional leadership.
There is no additional cost to join the Mentorship Program in 2016, as this is
included in your active BPW membership.
Our Mentors and Protégées
Our mentors are diverse professional and business women employed across a broad
range of industries and sectors (corporate, not-for-profit and entrepreneurial) and
occupations. They have many years of business experience as well as a variety of
interesting life experiences and enjoy giving back to the community.
Our protégées are BPW members also representing a diverse group of professional and
business women who are interested in developing and strengthening their leadership
skills and advancing their careers by expanding their network.
WISDOM BOOST 2016 Requirements for Mentors & Protégées
November 30th
Current BPW members - enroll in the program by completing a mentor or protégée
application form. Email it to mentorship@bpwcalgary.com no later than October 30 .

December 1-8th
Your application will be reviewed with you via a telephone interview with one of our
Committee members to help with the mentor and protégée pairing process.
December 9th
Mentor and protégée pairings will be announced at the BPW Calgary’s December dinner
meeting.
January 13th, 2016 (3pm to 5pm, prior to the evening BPW dinner meeting)
Kick off WISDOM BOOST 2016 - workshop on successful mentoring and tools. Mentors
and protégées meet to establish goals/outcomes for their mentoring relationship, and
initiate or deepen their relationship together.
Quarterly Leadership mini-workshops
Each mentor and protégée pair will attend 3 leadership mini-workshops on important
topics for women including: work-life balance, embracing change, and authentic
leadership. Dates: March 9th, June 8th and September 14th (from 3pm to 5pm).
January to December 2016
Mentors and protégées will be required to complete the following:

Attend at least 5 BPW Calgary dinner meetings (2 Wednesday of the month
from November through December) together.

Participate in two BPW Calgary community outreach activities together.

These outreach activities will be posted on our website and/or newsletters and
could include:

a. The Walk-In Closet – collection, sorting and organizing of gently-used business
clothing & accessories at their facility.
b. Servants Anonymous Society – collection and delivery of adopt-a-family
program, book drive, blanket drive and/or supporting the Fireworks Co-operative
event or catering business in a variety of ways.
c. The Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association – providing resources and
support for immigrant women by attending a breakfast networking event or
volunteering to speak to CIWA program participants.

Attend the December 14th, 2016 BPW Calgary Year-End Celebration Event
which will include a graduation ceremony for the Mentoring Program.
