Course description
The purpose of this course is to improve oral and written skills of English in order to pass the end term language exam
(alapvizsga). Classes offer time and opportunity for practice both in speaking and writing, however, regular home
preparation and outside classroom practice is highly required. Besides the regular topics of the advanced language exam
there will be a special focus on contemporary English vocuabulary and some EAP (English for Academic Purposes) skills as
well.

Requirements

Be on time on all sessions

Active participation (no more than 4 missed classes – do not miss the mid/end-term tests)

Regular homework including extra writing tasks handed in to the deadline

Do not email any assignments unless explicitly asked to

A presentation: 10 minutes about a freely chosen issue related to one of the 18 speaking topics

Mid-term and end-term tests (22 October; 3 December)
About your exam
The ’alapvizsga’ is closest to Cambridge Advanced Exam. Students are here expected to testify a good fluency and a wide
range of vocabulary in English on both spoken and written fields as well as an advanced level of language accuracy.
