Position Details
Viavi are looking for a technical lead in the Visibility, Intelligence and Analytics (VIA) Professional
Services Team in EMEA. This role has a team of Subject Matter Experts (Mentors) based around EMEA
covering the VIA Solution portfolio. This team work closely with the Solution Delivery managers in the
deployments and customer adoption of VIA Solutions.
The candidate will have experience optimizing and designing UMTS, GSM or LTE networks. The right
candidate will have experience in the design and optimization of radio networks. The candidate will be
required to help support the deployment and delivery of VIA products in a customer facing environment
and will have a real get up and go attitude. The role does require an extensive practical understanding of
LTE/UMTS/GSM network optimization, and be able to map how VIA products can troubleshoot network
issues. Therefore a candidate with experience in troubleshooting issues such as accessibility, mobility or
retainability failures, relate them to radio conditions or parameter settings and suggest appropriate
resolution actions is key.
Detailed knowledge of vendor infrastructure e.g. Ericsson, Huawei or NSN is considered to be a bonus
specifically GPEH or RPMO in E///, IOS traces in Huawei networks. Proven knowledge and experience in
LTE planning and optimisation.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate this experience through examples spent working
with customers on live projects. The role will call for extensive short term travel but the candidate may
also be required to spend weeks on a customer site working to deliver a project.
This position will report to the regional the Head of Professional Services VIA in EMEA.
Required Qualifications









Experience in the Mobile Telecommunications Industry
Excellent customer facing and management skills
Significant project management experience
Experience of Network Planning and Optimisation of networks
Ability to troubleshoot to the route-cause of an RF issue such as dropped or blocked calls
A detailed knowledge of the mechanisms within Radio Access Networks including, for example
Inter-Frequency/Inter-RAT handovers, and have the ability to optimize neighbour relationships to
prevent dropped calls
Understanding of RRC, NBAP and RANAP protocol stacks and parameters appropriate to UMTS
network optimization
Proven knowledge and experience with vendor OSS e.g. Ericsson, NSN, Huawei, etc.
Experience with Layer 3 message analysis







Experience in IT Infrastructure / connectivity
Experience with Enterprise type solutions
Familiarity with common industry products e.g. Aircom Asset, Forsk Atoll, Actix Drive Test Post
Processing, Tektronix Geoprobe etc.
Excellent customer facing skills and a team player who can clearly articulate to customers the
results of a study they have performed.
Must be willing to travel internationally and be prepared to spend time on customer sites
delivering projects if required
Understanding of project financials
Travel Required – 25 - 50 Percent
