Year 2 Curriculum Map Term 6, 2014-15
Welcome to Term 6, the final one in year 2! Doesn’t time fly? Thank you to you all for your support over the year. It hasn’t been the easiest year for the
class as they have dealt with staff changes, but they have done a good job. Term 6 is going to be a very busy one, please see the list of dates at the bottom
of the letter.
Speaking & listening – our show & tell this term will be all about holidays and summer. The children will be invited to bring in a photo, souvenir or item
from a special holiday or summer event. We would also like the children to prepare what they would like to say about their item, as they can sometimes
become a little lost for words when faced with the whole class! Please bring them in during the following weeks;
Kikuyu – w/c 8th June
Kamba – w/c 15th June
Luo – w/c 22nd June
Masai – w/c 29th June
Reading Challenge- ‘Dive into a book!’
This challenge will run throughout Term 6. Children will receive a fish? to take home – please record on this when your child reads or shares a book at
home. Each time they read five times, they should bring in their fish and move up the class chart. Children can choose any books they like – their reading
book or a book from home or the library. The aim of this is to get the children reading more widely. It is great that they find a favourite author or series of
books, but this can narrow their exposure to different vocabulary and varied story telling techniques. The wider their reading, the better their writing!
Year 2 dates for your diary – we have a very packed term coming up, with lots of different activities going on! Please see below for the dates and notes.
Monday 8th June – Class photographs

Many Thanks,
Mrs Gooch & Mrs Lovely
