CVAA Membership Engagement:
System Capacity Building Programme
Conference Brochure
December 10/11th, 2015
UPDATE
The Define Phase of the SCB Programme was concluded in October and the
following headlines were presented to DfE:
Workforce Work Stream
The Define Phase focused on two main strands providing further insight:
1) To provide and develop the use of tools that would enable agencies to plan
for the future and/or collaborate with one another by a common structure.
2) To provide some direct input to capacity building of the workforce, knowing
the constraints faced by agencies trying to invest in workforce development in
a downturned market.
Impact
Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Programme delivered by Hay Group
Outputs: 80 places taken up during the course of the SWP programme.
Key Topics document including presentation, findings and bespoke
Workforce planning tools (Workbook and RACI chart) shared with all VAAs.
Outcomes: Increased understanding of SWP principles and application to VAA
sector agencies including: supply and demand, gap analysis and workforce strategy
development.
Skills Development (PAR, Panel Admin, Therapeutic and Life Story Book work)
Outputs: 7 courses delivered; 300+ new staff identified since 2012 in frontline
services, administration and management.
Outcomes: Baseline skills developed in nearly 15% of sector staff.
Customer Work Stream
The Define Phase focused on two main strands providing further insight:
1) To define and test propositions for a distinctive VAA sector market position
based on learning and common themes sector-wide e.g. Quality, Inclusion
and Engagement.
2) To support the distinctive position via coproduction, customer care training
and capacity building for staff.
Mystery Shopping and Customer Care Training
Outputs: Mystery shopping completed with 28 VAA branches.
Customer training completed: 70% participation; 21 VAAs
Outcomes: Benchmark of 65% of VAAs achieving a combined score of >70%.
Living action plans for each participating agency.
Position for testing
Outputs: 6 Propositions clearly articulated. #thereforyou pitch taken forward.
4 Position Hub meetings to take the proposition forward; representing 8 agencies.
Outcomes: Sector-wide understanding, identification and support for the proposition.
Building capacity and peer-to-peer networks.
Adopter Coproduction
Outputs: 276 surveys completed by adopters representing 16 agencies.
52 adopters engaged with focus group work.
Outcomes: Clear picture of the types and levels of adopter partnership working that
exists between VAAs and adopters.
DEVELOP and DELIVER Phases
A plan of activity was submitted to DfE for the upcoming phases, aimed at meeting
the evolving needs of the sector and specific objectives. The below diagram
provides each of the activity headings and the objectives it is designed to meet.
You will be hearing more about these activities during the conference and in the
weeks afterwards. Also, please check the SCB Programme page on the CVAA
website regularly for updates: http://cvaa.org.uk/members/vaa-systems-capacitybuilding-programme/
In the meantime do not hesitate to contact any member of the Strategic Management
Group (SMG) for more information on any of the planned activities or to comment.
