All Dual Honours Students also take modules in the Departments teaching the other
halves of their degrees.
Single Honours Students may also choose to take up to 40 credits’ worth of level one
modules outside Economics (20 credits’ worth in the case of Single Honours BSc
Economics with Finance.) The opportunity to do this is at Module Choice in the Octagon
Centre on Tuesday, 24 September from 12 noon onwards. Information about available

However, you should note
that there are a number of modules in other departments which Economics students are
not permitted to take because of their similarity to Economics core units.
More
information can be found in the ‘Degree Programmes and Modules at Level One 201314’ booklet. It is of course possible to take all of your 120 credits’ worth of level one
modules in Economics by choosing ECN104 and ECN108 as your unrestricted credits, or
just ECN108 in the case of BSc Economics with Finance students.

Tutorial Groups for ECN Modules

You will be allocated tutorial groups for all your 'ECN' modules based on information
we collect from you in Intro Week.

Details of your group/s will be available from the Economics Enquiry and Student
Support Office, Room 227 in the 9 Mappin Street Building early in the new academic
year. You will be emailed when they are ready for collection.

Lectures, but not tutorials, start in week one of the semester. You will be told when
tutorials start for each module either when you are given your group details or in one
of the early lectures.
Attendance at all lectures, tutorials and workshops in Economics modules is
compulsory. If you miss a tutorial for any reason you should inform the tutor as soon as
possible of the reason for the absence either by email or in person. If you do miss any
classes, whatever the reason, it is your responsibility to make up the work and in particular
to ensure that you have received any handouts or important notices given out in your
absence. If you think it is essential to be away longer, you must follow the procedures
described in the ‘Department of Economics Undergraduate Handbook’ which will be
given to you in Intro Week.
