Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias
Pageant Application and Regulations
Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias* is a State Function of and the pageant title is presented by
the United Court of the Sandias, Inc. (UCS). The pageant is open to male and female contestants
who may appear in the competition in same or reverse gender (drag queen or drag king). The
goal of the pageant is to select an entertainer or group ensemble of entertainers to represent UCS
for one year. The winning contestant(s) will be known as Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias
(title holders) and will be welcomed at all UCS events. Additionally the title holder will have
certain responsibilities to meet over the course of their year as further stated in this application.

later than Friday, February 5th, 2010.
Eligibility
1. Age 21 by February 5th, 2010 (proof required)
2. A one year resident of New Mexico (proof may be required)
3. Membership in good standing with UCS (Membership may be purchased at the time of
this application for $7.00)
4. Payment of a non-refundable $25.00 application fee by January 30, 2009
Responsibilities
1. Two UCS fund raisers must be produced by the Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias;
One before May 2010 for the current reign and one for the next reign between July
2010 and December 2010. Current reigning Monarchs will determine the beneficiary
For each fund raiser.
2. All participation and fulfillment of responsibilities will be under the guidance and
Approval of the reigning Monarchs and seated Board of Advisors of UCS at all times.
3. The titleholder will be subject to close scrutiny regarding alcohol or drug abuse when

From the title for cause; including but not limited to, acts of violence, destruction of
Property, theft or other unacceptable social behavior.
*All rights to produce the Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias Pageant are exclusive to UCS and are produced
within the realm of the corporation’s Bylaws and Procedure Manual. Any infringement of these rights, replication
or duplication of the Pageant and its format, rules and regulations will be prosecuted to the fullest extent available
under New Mexico law.
Format
The Pageant competition is presented in the following three parts:
***PART I ***
TALENT
Live vocals, lip-synch, comedic, dramatic skits, readings, instrumental, dance or other physical
performance (acrobatics, juggling) are acceptable. Nudity, glitter, open flames and live animals
are prohibited in the performance.
Backup dancers, props or stage backdrops are acceptable and encouraged. Live microphone and
lighting (to the extent available) will be supplied by the host location.
Performances are limited to 7 minutes and may be required to be previewed prior to the
competition. All contestants must also have a Step-up performance prepared. Music must be on
CD, no tape cassettes or record albums accepted.
If deemed necessary, a rehearsal may be called for which all contestants must be available.

FORMAL WEAR
Males or contestants appearing in male gender will be judged in four areas:

Accessories (tie, vest, jewelry, etc.)
footwear (compatibility with outfit, quality, condition and cleanliness)
grooming of hair, facial hair and fingernails
Females or contestants appearing in female gender will be judged in four areas:
1. quality, condition and cleanliness of formal gown (required) as follows:
a. floor length, gown
b. arms covered to the wrist (by the gown itself or matching jacket,
Cape, etc.)
2. accessories (jewelry, stocking)
3. shoes (compatibility with outfit, quality, condition and cleanliness)
4. grooming of hair, skin (make up) and fingernails
***PART III***
ON STAGE INTERVIEW
A single question relevant to the role of the Snow Prince/Princess of the Sandias as a UCS
titleholder, a community representative and an entertainer will be asked immediately following
the presentation of formal wear by each contestant in rotation. An interpreter will be provided
for non-English speaking contestant when requested. Contestants will be judged on:
1. ability to think quickly under pressure and in front of an audience
2. ability to speak clearly and connect with the audience
3. content of the answer in relation to the question
Judging and Awards
Judges will be selected by UCS and will score contestants in the three phases of the competition
described in this application on ballots designed and provided by UCS. Contestants may review
their scores for one week, beginning Saturday, February 6th, 2010 and ending at 6pm on
Saturday, February 14, 2010, when all ballots will be destroyed.

A Second Alternate, First Alternate and Titleholder will be named on pageant night. The
Titleholders will receive a crown or medallion, as appropriate. Alternates will receive a
certificate and succeed to the title should the winner be unable to complete requirements of the
position before the end of the contracted term.
Other Guidelines
All contestants are required to abide by the following guidelines:
1) one personal assistant in the dressing room (strictly observed); select someone who can
help you dress and attend to your grooming; no prop people in this area
2) outside alcohol or use of drugs is cause for immediate disqualification
3) contestant will drawn order number and will remain the same all night
4) DJ will not rewind, search for cuts, provide or otherwise be in any way responsible for
performance music (absolutely no exceptions)
5) Prop setup/takedown time is part of the 7 minutes performance time allowed
6) The contestant is responsible for the behavior of people in their entourage
7) Contestants appear at their own insistence and risk and shall not hold UCS and the
management/ownership of the pageant venue from any and all claims of any kind
resulting from participation in the pageant.
