Newport is a city situated in south east Wales, UK. It is a forward thinking city is steeping in a rich
industrial heritage dating from the nineteenth century, where its location on the River Usk was first
recognised as a gateway for industry. Being a costal medieval city, Newport offers costal views and
historic attractions that bring tourists to the city for weekend visits.






The 250m velodrome is home to Welsh Cycling and plays host to national and international
competitions, including use by British Cycling for National Squad coaching sessions.
The Wales National Velodrome was home to Team GB and Paralympic GB as they prepared for the
Olympic and Paralympic games in London 2012, Beijing 2008 and Athens in 2004. Summer 2012 also
saw the Australian and USA Paralympic Cycling Teams train before the Paralympic Games in London.

Classification
The organisers are operating a full international classification at the event. It will take place on
Wednesday 27th November and Thursday 28th November from 09:00 each day.
All athletes should indicate their classification status with their online entry. Athletes should state if
their classification None, New, Needs Review or is Confirmed
It is essential athletes requiring classicisation include this with their online entry so that slots may be
allocated.
Please note: The demand for classification is expected to be large therefore classification will be
prioritised for new riders requiring classification.

The Entry Fee is £43 per rider payable on entry through the online system.
Entry for all athletes from all nations is through British Cycling’s online entry system.
You do not need to be a British Cycling member to enter. Follow the link below to the entry page and

Youth Omnium Event
In support of developing young Paracycling talent we are hosting a short 3 round Omnium type race
for U16’s on Saturday. This is not a UCI points qualifying event but will give exposure to high level
competition to some young aspiring athletes. Entry is open to all Under 16 Para athletes but spaces
are limited. For more information on this and how to enter please contact

Newport is just 90 minutes from London by rail and there are direct coach services from Heathrow
and Gatwick airports and other major centres. Cardiff and Bristol International Airports are within an
hour’s drive.

Important: There is a Welsh Rugby International at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff versus
Australia on Saturday 30th November. This will mean that the area around Cardiff could be very busy
on Saturday night this may include some hotels on the Cardiff side of Newport. We advise you book
as far in advance as possible to get the best rates and available.

Accreditation will be available at the accreditation upon arrival for the first time as per entry lists
only
Each athlete is entitled to one additional accredited helper track centre.
No access is available to accredited areas from Friday 29th November without accreditation.
Official Training
Official training will take place from 12 noon to 5pm on Friday 29th November.
This will be split into sessions and allocated by the Competition Manager. All teams will be informed
of their allocated session after entries have closed.
Other track training
Should teams wish to arrive early or stay after the event it is possible to book the Velodrome for
your training. Please contact: Neil.Sargeant@newport.gov.uk to discuss cost and times available.
Bike storage
The Velodrome track centre will be secured with security personnel from Friday (29th) morning, no
other storage is available at the venue. Team pens will be made with barriers and if you wish to
store equipment in this area we recommend you bring locks with you as the area will still be
accessible to accredited personnel.
Doping Control
The doping control room is located in the Velodrome near the toilets not far from the entrance to
the track and will be clearly signposted from track centre.
Visas
Each Federation / Team / Athlete is responsible for obtaining the necessary documentation to gain
entry into the United Kingdom.
