Thursday/Fridays - Science Extra Credit Opportunity
"Mysterious, Puzzling, and Interesting Science Objects" or Science
Current Event
Students in my classes will have the opportunity for 5 extra credit points*
every Thursday/Friday beginning 8-13-2015. To earn the 5 points students
have two choices.
Choice 1:
A student can bring a science related object that is "mysterious, puzzling,
or interesting" (or a picture they have taken of the object) to school on
Thursday or Friday (depending on student’s class schedule)
Rules are:
1. Bring the object to Mrs. Westbrook's room on Thursday/Friday during
homeroom.
2. The object must be in a sealed Ziploc-type gallon size bag or grocery
bag or smaller. (No objects larger than a gallon Ziploc bag could hold.)
3. The object must be something that is allowed at school.
4. The outside of the bag must be labeled with the student's name and
class period.
5. A brief explanation of the object which identifies it and explains where or
how it was found, must be on a piece of paper inside the bag. (Must be 5
sentences, and the last sentence must relate the object to Earth
Science.)
6. It must be an object that is allowed at school.
Choice 2:
Students may share a science current event that has occurred in the past 3
months.
Rules are:
1. You may bring a copy of the article to Mrs. Westbrook's room on
Thursday/Friday during homeroom. (It can be printed from a website) or
you can just write about the story.)
2. Complete a written current event form. (Form provided on my website)
