JUDY CRANSTON NAMED CEO OF GIRL SCOUTS OF WESTERN NEW YORK

REGIONAL COUNCIL SELECTS LEADER TO STRENGTHEN AND PREPARE GIRLS

FOR A 21 ST CENTURY STYLE OF LEADERSHIP

WESTERN NEW YORK (August 17, 2015) – The Girl Scouts of Western New York’s board of directors appointed

Judy Cranston CEO of Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY). Judy’s appointment comes after serving three months as Interim CEO and six years as the council’s COO.

Judy’s more than 25 years of experience in executive management, coupled with her lifelong connection to Girl

Scout’s makes her an optimum fit for the position. Judy succeeds Cindy Odom, former GSWNY CEO who departed the organization for a national position with Girl Scouts of the USA.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our girls and GSWNY’s unwavering volunteers in this capacity.

Building on the organizational foundation laid by former CEO, Cindy Odom, we have an amazing staff and a supportive board of directors,” said Judy Cranston, CEO of Girl Scouts of Western New York. “As a former Girl

Scout, I know the positive value that Scouting can have on the trajectory of a girl’s life. It is my mission to help girls discover their personal best and accomplish their dreams. I am enthused to work with the community to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.”

Judy has added strategy and focus to the organization’s business practices by implementing Six Sigma principles to improve efficiency in operations across all departments in GSWNY’s nine county jurisdiction. She brings strong business acumen, leadership skills, and a proven track record of achieving company objectives.

She is a former Hover-Davis Chief Operating Officer and an Eastman Kodak executive. Judy holds her Master of

Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Judy also completed an Executive Leadership Program at the Anderson School at UCLA. While at Kodak she achieved a

Six Sigma Management Black Belt.

She is a native of Baldwin, New York and was part of the Nassau County Girl Scout Council in her youth.

“After careful consideration with our board of directors we decided that Judy Cranston is the right person to lead the council,” said Lettie Chilson, Board Chair of Girl Scouts of Western New York. “Her history with GSWNY as

Interim CEO, as well as COO and her previous career experience will continue to pave the way to positively impact the lives of girls and volunteers across our region. We thank past CEO, Cindy Odom for her efforts and congratulate Judy with the confidence that girls’ futures and GSWNY will continue to flourish now and in the years to come.”
