APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS & GUIDELINES
Funding Period: June 1, 2015 – December 31, 2016
INTRODUCTION
PNC Arts Alive is a multi-year, multi-million dollar initiative by The PNC Foundation designed to support visual and
performing arts organizations. The goal is to increase engagement in the arts and to make the arts more accessible to
diverse audiences in Greater Philadelphia and Southern NJ. One-million dollars will be disbursed in this funding period.
FUNDING PRIORITIES



Programs that increase arts engagement and increase access among diverse audiences, underserved and/or
economically disadvantaged communities.
Programs that effectively use creative marketing to promote the program and engagement techniques which
extend the reach of the art form beyond the organization’s physical space.
Programs that offer PNC distinct branding opportunities.
FUNDING PERIOD
The funding period is June 1, 2015 through December 31, 2016. A goal of PNC Arts Alive is to fund a full schedule of arts
programming over the entire 18-month funding period.
ELIGIBILITY
Non-profit, visual and/or performing arts organizations, operating under its own 501(c)(3) status, are eligible to apply. To
determine if your organization and proposed program qualify for funding, please refer to page one of the application. All
boxes on the checklist must be checked as true statements in order to qualify.
PROCESS
The PNC Arts Alive program is a competitive, two-step application process. Interested arts organizations that meet the
qualifications must submit the PNC Arts Alive – Year 7 Application by February 6, 2015 in order to be considered. A team
of PNC reviewers will evaluate and score each application based on how well the application questions were answered
and align with the stated funding priorities listed above, among other things. After all of the applications are reviewed,
organizations will be notified of the outcome. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in a more detailed
application process through the PNC Foundation Philanthropy Portal by the end of February. The final grantees will be
selected and notified by the end of March. The grant funding will be disbursed on or before June 1, 2015.
INSTRUCTIONS & TIMELINE






The PNC Arts Alive - Year 7 Application is a short-form application/narrative. Please include a copy of your IRS
Determination Letter and a signed PNC Verification of Good Legal Standing. Do not submit any additional or
supporting documentation that is not requested.
The Eligibility Checklist must be submitted along with the Application to be considered.
Application period: January 5, 2015 to February 6, 2015.
Application deadline: February 6, 2015 by 5:00 p.m. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered.
Submit application electronically to: hugh.mcstravick@pnc.com. No hardcopies will be accepted. All applicants
will receive confirmation of receipt of their grant application via email within 24 hours.
Notification: All applicants will be notified by the end of February whether or not they will be invited to submit a
full on-line application. Successful applicants will receive additional instructions on how to submit the full on-line
application on the PNC Philanthropy Portal.
Questions? We will be available to answer specific grant questions via email from January 5-23, 2015. Email questions

individual questions after January 23, 2015.
GRANT RANGE & TYPE






Grants of $25,000 and above will be awarded.
Grants will be made for projects and programs only.
Grant requests can be made for an existing or new program.
Grant requests for collaborative programs can only be administered by one lead applicant who is responsible for
administering the grant.
Multi-year requests will not be considered.
No operating, capital, challenge, or matching grants will be considered.
