10/20/15 Meeting

1. Call to Order – 7:05
2. Principal/Superintendent’s Report – Mr Ettore
 HIB Oct. 8th – thought went well, received positive parent feedback
 Evacuated building on Monday morning (Oct. 18) had 2nd large scale
evacuation drill. Took 30 minutes start to finish. Drill went well. May
take it to next step next time – involving parents, so later in the day 2:00 –
2:30. Parents would be notified in advance.
 Had first meeting “library committee” – started talk about renovating
media center, making user friendly for ages 6-14. Idea: moving
circulation desk in center of room to separate lower classes from middle
school classes. Also suggested creating a reading nook.
 Parcc – highly unlikely parents won’t get results until maybe January.
First year so state needs to set standards – long process
 Halloween – 12:00 dismissal, change into costumes back at 1:00,
attendance 1:15 and parade 1:30. PTO has family fun event 3-4:30 –
weather permitting will be on blacktop, if not, will move into gym. That
night annual mischief dance for grades 6-8.
 This Sunday annual Pancake Breakfast – Oct. 25th. Begin serving 7:00 am
– 12:00 pm. Big 8th grade fundraiser for June trip to Boston.
3. Guest Speaker – Jaime Lerhoff
 Welcome to Successful Strategies for all Students
 Figure out what kind of learner they are
 Have the kids tell you what strategy they are using to study
4. Officer’s Report
a. President (Caroline Quatrocchi): has been a great month; fun fall
social; HIB presentation was positive
b. Fundraising (Mike Alcini): Mini Golf $200, Kids Stuff $475,
currently looking into possibly stadium blankets
c. Programs (Laura Dienna, Ellen Weinberg): Halloween party – PreK to 5th, looking for Volunteers. Can email Ellen
lnweinberg@yahoo.com .
d. Assemblies (Jen Lalis):Camfel Productions – kids enjoyed it, did
two different video productions age appropriate. Scheduling “You
can not get replaced” – another character building one.
e. Teachers – MB Association – thank you for teacher’s luncheon
f. Communications (Teresa Parker) – directories all out. If haven’t
received them they are in the office.
g. Community Liaison/Class Parents (Jill Trimble) – everything good

h. Treasurer Report (Lindsey Cooke) – Avail Balance $50850.61. We
have directory money coming in.
