INFORMATION FOR ALL CHS HOMECOMING CANDIDATES
POSTERS FOR TROPHY CASE
Each King and Queen Candidate will jointly display their pictures on an 8 ½” by 11” sign. Any sign larger than
this will not be displayed. Include both candidate names, picture(s), and sponsoring club. Please use a backing for
the sign so it will stand up. Signs must be completed and turned into the library before 2nd block Friday, Sept.
25th. Signs not turned in by this time will not be put on display. You may have your sign back after Homecoming.
ASSIGNED WRITINGS
Each King and Queen Candidate will meet either Monday, September 21st or Tuesday, September 22nd in the
cafeteria at 2:45 pm. We will have a short meeting about expectations of candidates and you will complete a
brief assigned writing that is part of the election process. Please bring a blue or black ink pen with you. You will
be asked to complete your writings by 3:40 p.m. so please make transportation arrangements accordingly.
REHEARSAL FOR HALF-TIME CEREMONY
We will have one practice before Homecoming. It is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th. Listen for
the announcements regarding the date and time, in case we have to change it (particularly if there is bad weather).
Please report to the main lobby after reporting to your fourth block teacher for attendance be on time as we will be
going out to the field.
APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR HOMECOMING
Girls – a dressy dress or suit – NO low cut or very sheer dresses! No tiaras, crowns, or similar hair decorations.
Guys – suit & tie or sport coat, slacks & tie – jacket/coat is strongly suggested.
No jeans!!! - No corsages or flowers other than what we provide. No purses, cameras or similar items.
PARADE
Candidates are responsible for securing transportation for the parade. The car must be a convertible or t-top. If you
choose another vehicle such as a pick-up truck you must be seated on something secured to the vehicle. The driver
must be an adult, not a student and not you. Two posters should be made for the vehicle. Your names and
sponsoring club or sport should be included. You need to be at Goodridge Elementary parking lot by 4:45 pm,
Thursday, October 8th. Anyone arriving later than 4:45 pm will not be permitted to ride in the parade. You may
add any other decorations to the car as you like (balloons, streamers, etc.) and you can throw candy if you wish. If
you plan to do any last minute decorating, be sure to bring all supplies (tape, stapler, etc.) with you because no one
will be there with supplies. Someone will be at the parade site to give you flowers (long stem for girls,
boutonnieres for guys) – please be sure you have these with you when leaving your car so you have them for the
game. The parade begins promptly at 5:30 pm.
PARKING
Upon arrival at CHS at the end of the parade, do NOT get out of the car until you have gone around the school and
are on the back side of the building, near the football stadium and dumpsters. That is where you will get out of the
car. There will be a special section at that point for cars, trucks, floats, etc. that are staying for the game. Someone
will be there to direct you.
OVER
GAME
Immediately following the parade on, and after parking, candidates will line up to walk into the stadium. If
necessary, use the restroom quickly. Once you are seated across the field, you must remain there until after the
half-time presentation. If the weather is cold or rainy, parents may bring coats, blankets, umbrellas, etc. to you.
The king, queen, and court will be announced at halftime. The court needs to remain until pictures are taken for the
yearbook and newspaper. The court and all candidates will then exit the field. Please inform your family that there
will be a location following the game where they will be able to take pictures (NOT at half time on the field when
everyone is trying to exit). After the half-time presentation has ended, and the professional pictures have been
taken, all candidates should report to the designated location for more pictures. After that, you are free to be with
friends and family to watch the second half of the game.
DANCE
There will be a winter dance, probably in January. Details will follow.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT CHEWING GUM OR CARRYING ANY ITEMS SUCH AS PURSES,
CELL PHONES, CAMERAS, ETC. DURING ANY OF THE FESTIVITIES!!!!!!
PLEASE PUT ALL THE DATES AND TIMES ON YOUR CALENDAR!
Congratulations and enjoy the activities!
