Technical PhD Studentship
A PhD studentship is available to a Home, EU or international applicant who is a graduate from the
School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering and who has previously been awarded an MSc in:






Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Systems Management
Aerospace Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Design
Reliability Engineering and Asset Management
Structural Engineering
Thermal Power and Fluid Engineering
Eligibility
Selection Criteria
To be eligible for this funding opportunity, applicants must:

Be a University of Manchester graduate of one of the School of MACE MSc
courses listed above.

Have graduated since July 2010

Have achieved an overall distinction in their MSc

Hold an academic offer for a PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering, Civil
Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a start date of January 2016 or April
2016. Applications should be made online and ‘Technical PhD Studentship’
should be stated in the ‘Funding’ part of the form.



This will be assessed via the documents submitted with your academic application
(there is no separate funding application form). These include:

 Research Proposal
Closing date
You must have an academic offer in place by 30th October 2015 in order to be
considered for this funding.
Funding & Fees
The studentship duration is three years and includes:
Fees (home £4,052 or standard international £19,000)
Stipend at the RCUK standard rate (£14,057 in 2015/16)
