• Jean Webster （1876—1916）A
famous American novelist. Her former name is
Alice Jane Webster. Her mother is the niece of
Mark Twain ---the famous American writer.
Most her works are related to orphans. Daddy
long legs is the most thrilling masterpiece. It
remains popular for a long time ,and becomes
the required books of young girls. Henny Miller
adapted it as the living theatre in 1915.
Plot
Jerusha Abbot , the oldest orphan in the
orphanage, who transformed from an orphan
to a writer successfully with perseverance
and diligence. She was lucky at the age of
18 because she got the help from a man
whose name she even did not know. The
reason why she could get the help was that
one of her novels touched the stranger who
was described as a man with long legs. So
Jerusha called him Daddy Long Legs. As the
only request, she was asked to write to
Daddy Long Legs to tell him about how she
was going every month.

My Opinion
Firstly, optimism is much important for
anybody. Whatever life is now, we should keep
heart for any fate, and try to find joy in any
aspect of life.
Secondly, be confident and ambitious! Never
complain about how tragicly we have
experienced and indulged in what we have got.
Step forward and make great efforts for our
future.
Finally ,all of the creation came from
imagination and reflection for life. Keep
thought for life and we will obtain something
unbelievable.
The words I have learned something from
Not to be for ever regretting the past ,or anticipating
the future ;but to get the most the you can out of this
very instant. It is like farming you can have extensive
farming and intensive farming, which to choose is
8up to you. Most people do not live ,they just race.
They are trying to reach some goal far away on the
horizon, and in the heat of the going they get so
breathless and panting that they lose all sight of
beautiful, tranquil country they are passing through;
and then the first thing they know, they are old and
worn out. And it does not make any difference
whether they have reached the goal or not.
