Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Before connecting the kettle to the power supply, check that the voltage indicated on the appliance (underneath the kettle & base)
corresponds with the voltage in your home. If this is not the case, contact your dealer and do not use the kettle.
3. The kettle and attached base cannot be used for anything other than their intended use.
4. Do not operate the appliance without anything in it to avoid damaging the heating elements.
5. Unplug the kettle from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the kettle to cool before putting on or taking off parts,
and before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch a hot surface.
7. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
8. Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water, the boil-dry protection will automatically switch it off. If this should
occur, allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and re-boiling.
9. Ensure that the kettle is used on a firm and flat surface out of the reach of children; this will prevent the kettle from overturning and
avoid damage or injury.
10. To protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse the cord, electric plug or kettle in water or other liquids.
11. Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the kettle too fast.
12. Use care when opening the lid of the hot kettle while refilling when the kettle is hot.
13. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
14. Do not touch the hot surface of the kettle. Use the handle or the knobs.
15. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot water.
16. This appliance is not a toy. Do not let children play with it.
17. The use of accessory attachments that are not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or
personal injury.
2
18. During operation, wind the excessive cord into the inner of base of the kettle so that the distance between the base and the outlet is as
short as possible.
19. While water is boiling, or just after the water has finished boiling, avoid contact with steam from the spout. To disconnect, turn control
to OFF, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
20. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
21. Always ensure the lid is closed and do not lift the lid while the water is boiling.
22. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, nor after the appliance has malfunctioned, or has been damaged in any
manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
23. The kettle can only be used with the stand provided.
24. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may spill out.
25. Do not use outdoors.
26. Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove plug from
wall outlet.
27. Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use.
28 To reduce the risk of fire,
a) do not place any heating or cooking appliance beneath the appliance.
b) do not mount unit over or near any portion of a heating or cooking appliance.
c) do not store anything directly on top of the appliance surface when the appliance is in operation.
29. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not mount over a sink.

NOTES ON THE PLUG (2 PRONG)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
NOTES ON THE CORD
1. A short power-supply cord (or detached power-supply cord) is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping
over a long cord.
2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used, please note the following:
A. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical
rating of the appliance.
B. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children
or tripped over unintentionally.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove all parts included in the box.
2. If you are using the kettle for the first time, it is recommended that you first clean your kettle by boiling a full kettle of water twice and
then discarding the water.
NOTE: The maximum capacity of the kettle is about 7 cups.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. To fill the kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing on the OPEN button on the handle. Fill with the desired amount of water.
Alternatively, the kettle may be filled through the spout. The water level should not exceed maximum marks or sit below minimum marks. Too little
water will result in the kettle switching off before the water has boiled.
NOTE: Do not fill the water over the maximum level, as water may spill out of the spout when boiling. Ensure that the lid is firmly in place before
plugging into the power outlet.
2. Position the kettle on the power base.
3. Connect the plug into a power outlet. Press the switch down; the indicator will light up. The kettle will begin to heat the water, and will switch off
automatically once the water has boiled.
NOTE: Ensure that the switch is free of obstructions and that the lid is firmly closed. The kettle will not turn off if the switch is constrained or
if the lid is opened.
NOTE: If the kettle is removed from its base during a boil cycle, it stops automatically. When the kettle is placed back to its base, press the switch
down again to finish the boil cycle.
4. Lift the kettle from the power base and pour the water.
NOTE: Use care when pouring the water from your kettle as boiling water will scald.
5. The kettle will not re-boil until the switch is pressed again. The kettle may be stored on the power base when not in use.
BOIL-DRY PROTECTION
Should you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water, the boil-dry protection will automatically switch off the power. If this occurs,
allow the kettle to cool before filling with cold water and re-boiling.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Always disconnect the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.
1. Never immerse the kettle, power cord or power base in water, or allow moisture to come in contact with these parts.
2 Wipe the body of the kettle with a mild, damp cloth or cleaner, never use an abrasive cleaner.
CAUTION: Do not use chemicals, steel wool, abrasive cleaners to clean the outside of the kettle to prevent damage.
REMOVAL OF MINERAL DEPOSITS
Your kettle should be periodically cleaned as mineral deposits in tap water may form scales on the bottom of the kettle and cause it to operate less
efficiently. You can use commercially available descalers and follow the instructions on the package. Alternatively, you may follow the instructions below,
using white vinegar.
1. Fill the kettle with 3 parts white vinegar, one part cold water. Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.
2. Discard the mixture in the kettle, then fill the kettle with clean water. Boil and then discard the water. Repeat several times until the odor of vinegar has
been flushed away. Any stains remaining inside the spout can be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth.
