The difference between captioning and note takers is that captioners transcribe a word‐
for‐word as the conversation happens whereas note takers may summarize certain
sections.
Transportation:
Kingston Access Bus
Telephone: (613) 542‐2512.
It may be necessary to offer accessible transportation in situations where events that
take place in several locations on Campus. Some people with mobility disabilities may
have difficulties moving from one building to another. It is important to book the
Kingston Access Bus as early in advance as possible.
Dietary requirements:
Be sure to include on your advertisement and announcements an invitation for
attendees to indicate any particular dietary requirements they may have. Direct
questions about these requests to:
Conference and Hospitality Services
Telephone: (613) 533‐2223. E‐mail: event.services@queensu.ca
Alternative‐to‐print:
Be sure to have all materials associated with your event available electronically in the
event that attendees request them in alternative‐to‐print formats. Many people who are
blind or who have low vision use computer technologies to access print materials. This
allows them to increase the font size, use a magnifier or a screen-reader. However,
some blind individuals prefer to have their materials prepared in Braille. If you receive
such a request, please contact Michele Chittenden in Stauffer Library, and she will
make appropriate arrangements.
