Stem-changing verbs
The stem in the verb
pensar, querer, and preferir
will change from e to ie in
all forms except the
nosotros and vosotros.

These verbs are known as “boot verbs”

The verb costar is also a stemchanging verb. In the stem, the
o will change to ue.

Important Rule




If there are 2 verbs in one sentence,
you only conjugate the first verb. In
other words: use the infinitive for any
verbs that follow pensar, querer, or
preferir.
Por ejemplo:
Yo quiero comprar una falda en la
tienda.
Ellas prefieren comer ensaladas.
