IT recommendations letter

 Letter sent 5/21/10. Three items we requested: Duplex as default, Century Gothic as default font & cost reduction for duplex.

 Response from ITLC – Duplex can be set up as default on a per printer basis. Entire dept would have to agree. Offered to create documentation to explain how to make duplex for distribution to campus. SC questions for IT - Can we set a duplex icon? Offer to send it out instructions via email and post on our website.

 Font change to Century Gothic – Imaging committee deals w/ this feature in the computer labs and is looking into completing this request for fall 2010. William Frady is the contact person.

 Cost reduction for duplex. No response. Dirk recommended reminding Tom Frazier to look at this.

 Karrie Joseph suggested tracking savings after changes are made for reporting purposes.

ES 495 Capstone Class – Faculty Instructor: Dr. Laura DeWald

 15 week assessment project. Ideas include – recycling assessment, water quality perceptions. Possibly tying these two together. Other ideas?

Sub-committee development – top three priorities:

establish sub-committee chairs, create website, and create green virtual tours.

 Establish sub-committee chairs - Not enough attendees to select chairs. Summer attendance has been low. Council decided to wait until fall when faculty, staff & students return.

 Green tours of campus – SC would like to offer green tours for our group and others. Suggestions included Water Plant and new Health Building which is under construction.

 Website Ideas – SC mission statement, contact info, committees and description, tip of the month, office/residence hall/home energy saving tips, carbon footprint calculator, links to proposed energy dashboard at Harrill and Hunter Library, academic programs on campus, environmentally preferable purchasing & resources, building and renovation updates focusing on green aspects, resource page w/ links, LEED info., housekeeping/green cleaning updates.

Idea Bank – divided by subcommittee:

 Programming & Outreach - awareness programs, campus events, etc. o Education & behavior change o Create list of service opportunities o Create a WCU sustainability policy o Website o Sign ACUPCC

 Education & Academic Integration – academic curriculum o Course offering data collection o Get more faculty involved o Working w/ Faculty Center to offer green work shops

o Use meeting schedule template for fall to adapt to faculty schedules.

 Planned & Natural Environment – waste reduction & recycling, green building, dining services, energy management, operations & maintenance, etc. o Review existing policies (Pay for Print & Purchasing) o Virtual green tour o Goodwill trailer at move out o Website o Water quality advocacy
