Ms. Kimberly W. Moore,
Ph.D, Director of Marketing and
Mr. William Walton, Consultant
with North Carolina Mutual Life
Insurance Company (NCM)
recently visited the School of
Business and
Economics.
They met with
SBE representatives including
Dean Jessica Bailey, Mr. Donald
Wood, Director of the
Professional Development Center,
Mr. Nicholas Daves, Director of
the Center of Excellence for
Financial Services, and LaMonica
Sloan and Miles Winston from
Career Services.
North Carolina Mutual has
proposed an ongoing relationship
with the School of Business and
Economics in which qualified
juniors and seniors would have
the opportunity for internships,
summer employment and
permanent jobs after graduation.
NCM will also assist the SBE by
providing mentoring, workshops,
executive seminars and
participation in classroom
presentations.
WSSU students will have
opportunities for professional
development and training
provided by the largest and
oldest firm in the country with
roots in the African American
community. NC Mutual was
founded in
1898 in
Durham, North
Carolina, and
today it serves more than
200,000 individual and group
policyholders in all 50 states with
over $12 billion of insurance in
force. As of December 31, 2012,
Total Assets of the company
exceeded $148 million. North
Carolina Mutual is currently
expanding its business model to
include ventures into the group
life, dental, and short and long
term disability arenas.

the partnership, “This is an
excellent opportunity which will
offer our students exposure to
the financial services industry
during their time at WSSU. This
will add practical experience and
the opportunity to work with
professionals in the field, all of
which will be beneficial to our
students.”

This week marks the official end of
the summer semesters. The School of
Business and Economics is now moving
full speed ahead with Fall
Semester 2013, the classes of
which begin on August 19.
We are looking to welcome
an abundance of freshmen,
transfers, and readmits—all
students who have unique

nurturing environment that we offer to our

to be announced for fall 2013:
Dr. Madjd-Sadjadi will be in Room 109-D.

Dr. Cherikh will be in Room 203-B.
Dr. Jones will be in Room 206.
Mr. Daves will be in Room 111.
In addition, the building renovations are to
begin this week. Everyone is excited about
the coming of the fresh, new semester.

CAHME Clears MHA Program for Accreditation Candidacy
