Job title:
Taurus Crafts Part-time Chef
Purpose:
To take lunch service as part of the rota and to provide cover for
the full time chef
Reporting to:
Chef Manager
We are looking for experienced candidates who have an enthusiasm for producing high
quality café style food. Our mission is to serve simple, well prepared food made with great
ingredients, skill, and passion.
The Cafe stands at the heart of Taurus Crafts. It welcomes most visitors, local and holidaymakers alike. Our daily operation includes a mixed ability team providing work placements
and supported employment opportunities.
Main responsibilities:

Take service, operating the menu and presenting in accordance with the house style

Oversee the daily operation of the Safer Business Procedures when taking service
including
o Completion of all kitchen documentation
o Monitor all kitchen tasks and take action to ensure appropriate standards
o Take action/report actions on problems

Advise the Chef Manager of any ordering requirements

With colleagues across Taurus Crafts, support the development of a sustainable visitor
centre operating with a strong customer service focus.

Ability to work with a mixed ability team including overseeing placements in the kitchen
when taking service
Person specification
Experience
 At least 2 years’ experience in a catering and customer service environment
 Previous experience in a fast paced catering environment
Qualifications
 Be certified to level 2 Food Hygiene
 First Aid training or an ability to update

 An ability to support the training and development of others
 Able to prepare and present the Taurus Crafts menu

Must have the flexibility to work a non-standard rota
Availability to work some weekends, bank holidays and during school holidays
Employment terms:

The appointment is subject to a six month review period, which may be subject to
extension.

The hourly rate of pay will be £7.25

Average hours per week will be 16 - 20

There is a 1% contribution to a company pension scheme (see office for details).

Holiday entitlement is 6.6 weeks (including public holidays) pro rata.

Sick pay entitlement is 4 weeks after one month, increasing to 8 weeks after 3 years, 12
weeks after 5 years.

Notice – four weeks.
