Introduction from Ian Thomas, Channel Controller – Barefoot
Dear Reader
Thank you for the interest that you have shown in this position. We have prepared this
information pack to tell you more about E. & J. Gallo, our Barefoot brand and the role itself.
As you will see, our business is family owned and operated, and our wines offer consumers a
range of quality products at a variety of price points. Not only are we the largest privatelyowned winery in the world, selling 90 million cases a year worldwide but we were recently
voted the world’s most powerful wine brand by Intangible Business. As a household name to
many, we are all passionate about this business and the role we play in its success and we
are looking for people who can share this passion. We are now looking for a “Barefooter” as
part of our rapid expansion to drive sales of our Barefoot brand in the UK market.
So what actually is a Barefooter? Well your official title will be Barefoot Market Specialist,
and your fun but challenging task is to raise awareness of this vibrant brand. Driving brand
presence and availability across Impulse, Grocery and On-trade, you will also be responsible
for key promotional activity at local, regional and national events. Your ability to build
effective relationships with new and existing contacts will be pivotal to succeeding in this
position. Your responsibilities will be varied and keep you on your “Baretoes”; from point of
sale advertising, hosting wine tasting events, to gathering, processing and analysing market
trends and customer information.
If you have a ‘can-do’ attitude and can think ‘outside the box’, then this is a chance to join a
forward-thinking, people focussed business where your career can flourish. OK that’s enough
clichés for now, but seriously, you must be passionate and outgoing ideally and motivated to
over-achieve targets, you will have the commercial acumen and previous events experience
would be interesting.
This is a high visibility role within a fast growth business that has a dynamic and rewarding
culture.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Ian Thomas

Sales & Marketing
At E. & J. Gallo Winery, we produce wine for every taste and occasion. Our goal is to deliver
superior value and experience to consumers each and every time they share and enjoy our
wines.
To attain that goal, we’ve assembled teams of highly-skilled employees to manage our evergrowing brand portfolio. Our marketing teams collaborate with colleagues in Winemaking,

professionals strive to bring a better wine experience to consumers.

Winemaking

winemaker to recognize the value of the fruit and craft it into a great wine.
At E. & J. Gallo Winery, we’re proud to have world-class winemakers around the globe, who
learn from one another and artfully create award-winning wines recognized by critics and
consumers alike for their quality and value.
Whether you want wine for a backyard barbecue or as a gift for a friend’s wine cellar, our
winemakers strive to ensure that our wines will enrich any occasion.

The Barefoot Brand
Our Barefoot brand is now the number 1 wine brand in the USA and our plans for world
domination are well underway. From a "garage wine" back in the Sixties, Barefoot has
become so popular that we now have a club for Barefoot devotees: the "Barefoot Republic”.
We believe that we can both promote our brand and satisfy our desire to make the world a
better place by partnering with various non-profits and pouring at various fund-raising events.
We’ve also created the Barefoot Beach Rescue Project, designed to clean up beaches and
ensure they are "Barefoot friendly." We want to spread a sense of fun in the sun while
furthering the Barefoot philosophy of giving back.
The vibrant packaging of Barefoot Wine speaks to the carefree soul of this brand. The
growing popularity of the brand around the world has lead to increasing distribution in
markets such as the UK, Canada, Japan & South Korea.
Our philosophy at Barefoot is to make delicious, affordable wines that can be enjoyed by
everyone, from first-time wine consumers to long-time connoisseurs. Whether it’s a glass of
our fruity Pinot Grigio, or a taste of our full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, our award-winning
wines offer something for anyone who wants to kick back and go Barefoot.
The brand is all about being ‘Barefoot’- living the carefree Californian lifestyle and not taking
anything too seriously. Barefoot is great tasting, easy to drink wine you can enjoy with friends
without any of the stuffy traditionalism usually associated with wine.
Barefoot wine first became available in the UK in 2007, exclusively in Brighton and Hove.
Our team of Barefooters spread the word around the city, through supporting local
community and charity events by pouring wine for free. We have a history of donating wine to
local events for guests to enjoy while they were raising money and awareness of local
organisations.
