Rebellion in Marriage
• Trust – Told ONLY to Trust in GOD – Prov. 3:5
• Submissive – “to come under the protection of
someone in authority”
– Submission is an ATTITUDE
– Obedience is an ACTION
• 1 Peter 3:5,6 - For this is the way the holy women of
the past who put their hope in God used to adorn
themselves. They submitted themselves to their own
husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called
him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is
right and do not give way to fear.
• If the authority or Husband asks you to do something
against scripture or your conscience, then you appeal
Husbands Honor Your Wife…
• 1 Peter 3:7 - Husbands, in the same way be
considerate as you live with your wives, and
treat them with respect as the weaker partner
and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life,
so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
• Husbands are Responsible (Adam & Eve)
• Husbands are to Protect (physically, spiritually)
• Husbands are to be prayer warriors
• If you don’t treat God’s Daughter by sacrificially
lovingly her, He will not listen to your prayers.
The Holy Spirit
• He is a Person
– John 16:8 “And when he comes, he will
convict the world concerning sin and
righteousness and judgment:”
• He speaks ONLY truth never deceives or lies
– John 16:13 “When the Spirit of truth comes,
he will guide you into all the truth, for he
will not speak on his own authority, but
whatever he hears he will speak, and he will
declare to you the things that are to come.”
The Holy Spirit
• He guides us daily in our lives (if we allow)
– Luke 4:1,2a “And Jesus, full of the Holy
Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was
led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty
days, being tempted by the devil.”
• He glorifies Jesus Christ not himself
– John 16:14 “He will glorify me, for he will
take what is mine and declare it to you.”
The Holy Spirit
• A spirit leading life will sing songs to God
– Ephesians 5:18-21
“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is
dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody in your heart to the Lord,
giving thanks always for all things to God
the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, submitting to one another in the
fear of God.”
THE HOLY SPIRIT
• He gives us Power Daily
– Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when
the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the
earth.”
• He gives life and Peace
– Romans 8:6 “The mind governed by the
flesh is death, but the mind governed by
the Spirit is life and peace.”

SECRETS
1 Corinthians 6:19,20 (NKJV)
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of
the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from
God, and you are not your own? For you were
bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body
and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
GRIEVE Not the Holy Spirit…
• Grieving by turning to someone or something else other
than God as first in my life.
– Addictions
– Anger
– Myself
– TV, Games, Movies
– Escaping Reality
• Trying to claim an identity for myself based on works apart
from the finished work of Jesus Christ.
– Worth
– Value
– Significance
– Acceptance
– Joy
QUENCH Not the Holy Spirit
• Rejecting or Neglecting what God has clearly told
me to do.
– Live a Holy (set apart) life in Christ
– Set Your Mind on things above
– Seek First His Kingdom and His Righteousness
– Have NO other God’s before Him
• NOT giving thanks in all circumstances.
– God is not an author of Evil, but He allows
difficult times to draw you closer to Him (His
glory and your good)
• NOT trusting God in our present time.
Be FILLED With the Holy Spirit
• “The Holy Spirit will not adjust to you; you must
adjust to Him daily.” - RT Kendall
• Filling of the Holy Spirit by allowing Him access
to the various areas of my life
– He leads you must follow
– Surrendering all areas of life to His access
• Example: Jesus
– Luke 4:1,2a (NKJV)
“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit,
returned from the Jordan and was led by the
Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for
forty days by the devil…”
ARMOR OF GOD
• Why the Armor of God?
– To protect us against the wiles (methods)
of the enemy to destroy us.
– The purpose of standing is preparation and
actual protection in the “evil day.”
– Evil day is the same as “season” from Luke
4:13. It is our most vulnerable time when
temptations have extraordinary attacks and
our desire to give in is strong. There is an
enemy and his attacks are coming. His traps
are set! Be prepared!
ARMOR OF GOD
• What is the importance of the Armor of God?
– The armor of God is built on a believer’s understanding of their
position in Christ, without that position there is no armor.
• Truths from Ephesians
– Chapter 1: Satan is DEFEATED.
– Chapter 2: We are seated with Christ and Satan is under
our feet.
– Chapter 3: God is able “to do exceeding abundantly
above all that we ask or think according to the power
that works in us.”
– Chapter 4: Don’t give ground to the enemy and don’t
grieve the Holy Spirit.
– Chapter 5: Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
– Chapter 6: Now READY for warfare!
ARMOR OF GOD
• Who is the Armor of God for?
– BELIEVERS must be putting on the armor of God to stand against
the enemy.
• Enemy 1: Principalities – are demons assigned by the enemy
to keep locations (counties, cities, towns) in darkness and
away from God or truth. (Dan. 10)
• Enemy 2: Powers – are demons assigned to empower
believers to make wrong choices (sin) and keep them from
God or truth.
• Enemy 3: Rulers of Darkness – are demons assigned to
leaders and promoting darkness in our nations. (1 Tim
2:2;Mk 3:27)
• Enemy 4: Spiritual Wickedness in High Places – are demons
assigned to promoting “high places” (false worship) (Num.
33:52; Jer. 32:35; Lev. 26:30; Isa. 16:12)
BELT OF TRUTH
• Truth – You will be faced with the “Father of Lies”
(Jn. 8:44), “Deceiver” (Rev. 12:9) today. You need
God’s Truth!
– Where is TRUTH?
• Truth 1: Is found in Jesus Christ
• Truth 2: Is found in Bible (God’s Word)
• Truth 3: Spirit of Truth (Holy Spirit)
• Truth 4: Tower of Truth (church)
– Do I believe my truth or God’s Truth? Some
times God’s truth may not have feels, but I
must believe it.
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
• This piece refers to Christ’s righteousness. Mine
would never make it.
– Great Exchange:
• Christ became sin so we could become
righteous (2 Cor. 5:21)
• We are covered with a righteousness not
our own, and that we cannot improve on. (1
Pet. 2:22)
• We use Christ’s righteousness to combat
Satan the Accuser (Rev. 12:10).
• When accused by the enemy, Thank God and
REDEDIATE yourself to God under His control.
SHOES OF PEACE
• Our footing is the PEACE that only comes from
the Gospel. (Eph. 6:15)
– Satan (Roaring Lion) wants me to make
decisions in life based on fear (1 Pet. 5:8)
– God says, “Don’t run on the basis of Fear, but
Stand in my Peace” (John 14:27).
• If you have LOST your peace ask two questions?
– Question 1: Have I quenched (1 Thess. 4:19) or
grieved (Eph. 4:30) the Holy Spirit?
– Question 2: If question 1 is no, then your under
attack from the Enemy. RESIST HIM, and call
for prayer backup!
HAVING VS. TAKING
• The first THREE pieces of the Armor of God you
HAVE.
– Belt of Truth
– Breastplate of Righteousness (Christ’s)
– Shoes of Peace
• The second THREE pieces of the Armor of God
you are TOLD to TAKE.
– Shield of Faith
– Helmet of Salvation (Deliverance)
– Sword of the Spirit
SHIELD OF FAITH
• The shield of Faith is used to quench the fiery
darts of Satan. They are his lies or partials lies.
– Faith is simply believing what God has already
said to be true (Mk 4:35-41).
– Faith may require me to believe something
that is contrary to circumstances (it is natural
to run from a lion). (Heb. 11)
– Faith requires a warrant. A warrant is a legal
document on which an action is based. As
Christians, our authority comes from the Word
of God (Our warrant).
SHIELD OF FAITH
– Satan’s first temptation was to question
God, “Yea, hath God said?” (Gen. 3:1)
– ”So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom.10:17)
– Hebrews 11, the Hall of Faith, lists those
who based their actions on what God had
said.
• The shields could INTERLOCK.
HELMET OF SALVATION
• Salvation is sometimes translated deliverance. It
means the same thing. In this verse it is best
understood as deliverance from the enemy’s
attacks. This is not saying “Eternal Security.”
• but let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting
on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an
helmet, the hope of salvation.” (1 Thess. 5:8)
– In the Greek, salvation here literally means
deliverance, rescue or defender (1 Cor. 10:13)
• The Spiritual Battle is in the MIND.
• God has promised to DELIVER us from our battles.
