A ratio is a comparison of
two numbers by division.
Ratios can be written in
three ways and should be
in simplest form.
Example 1:
Express the ratio 10 roses
out of 12 flowers as a
fraction in simplest form.

Example 2:
Express the ratio 21
inches to 2 yards as a
fraction in simplest form.
2 yards must be
converted into inches first!
2 yd x 36 inches = 72 inches

Express the ratio 21
inches to 72 inches as a
fraction in simplest form.

A 12-oz bottle of
cleaner cost $4.50. A
16-oz bottle of cleaner

Example 4:

30 ft x 12 in = 360 inches
2 hrs x 60 min = 120 minutes
Example 4:
A snail moved 360 inches in
120 minutes. How many
