BASIC HEADINGS 2013 SURVEY

BH I. Fabricated metal
products, except machinery
and equipment
 Some countries would appreciate to have a larger number of
“smaller” items in this BH. Is this applicable for your country as
well? If yes: Do you have any suggestions for such items?
 The Viessmann packaged steam/hot water boilers (01.03) have
a big impact on this BH in many countries. Are there
alternative brands in your countries that are not in the survey
so far?
 IE: We would appreciate the possibility to price also an
unspecified radiator and an unspecified rolling-up door.
 IE and EL: For the tool sets the brands Bergen, Stanley, Draper
and Atlas Copco would be more representative
BH II. Engines and turbines,
pumps and compressors
 Some countries mentioned that the Grundfos pumps are
either overvalued for this BH (Atlas Copco pumps were
mentioned as an alternative) and / or that the requested
models are outdated or that there are more representative
models. Do you have any comments on this?
BH III. Other general purpose
machinery
 Some countries mention the fire extinguishers brands
ReinoldMax (03.04 (i)) and Chubb (03.05 (a)) to be not
representative. Are there alternative and more representative
brands / models (e.g. Kidde, Jockel, Neuruppin)?
 Some countries mention that foam fire extinguishers are
underrepresented in the survey compared to dry powder
models. Do you have any comments on this issue?
BH IV. Agricultural and
forestry machinery
 Many countries mentioned that some of the diesel tractors
(04.07 and 04.08) are outdated. Do you have any suggestions
or remarks concerning models / brands that would be most
representative for your country? E.g. John Deere also for the
tractors?
 There was a discussion about tree harvesting machines which
could be added to the survey as they might be important in
some countries. Possible manufacturers: Ponsse (Finland),
Komatsu (Japan), and John Deere (US). What is your opinion
about this?
BH V. Machine tools
 Hilti demolition hammers: In the survey the rather big CombiHammers TE 70 ATC (05.09 (d)) and TE 80 ATC (05.09 (c)) are
included. Some countries mentioned that adding also a smaller
Hilti Combi-Hammer would be more representative for their
market.
BH VI. Machinery for
metallurgy, mining, quarrying
and construction
 Some countries would appreciate to have a larger number of
“smaller” items in this BH. Is this applicable for your country as
well? If yes: Do you have any suggestions for such items?

BH VII. Machinery for food,
beverages and tobacco
processing
 Some countries would appreciate to have a larger number of
“smaller” items (e.g. Pizza ovens) in this BH. Is this applicable
for your country as well? If yes: Do you have any suggestions
for such items?
 NO: suggests smaller ice making machines than Castel MAC,
e.g. from Porkka.
 IE: Ice flakers (e.g. Manitowoc RF0244A or Icematic F80C)
might be an alternative. They are used especially in bars or fast
food restaurants.
 IE: Fagor could be an alternative brand for dishwashing
machines.
BH VIII. Machinery for textile,
apparel and leather production
 Some countries would appreciate to have a larger number of
“smaller” items in this BH. Singer and/or (more) Brother
sewing machines were mentioned as alternative brands. Is this
applicable for your country as well? If yes: Do you have any
suggestions for such items?
BH IX. Other special purpose
machinery

BH X. Office machinery
 EL: Xerox copiers (though already in the survey) could get
more weight compared to other brands.
 The Magner banknote counters were mentioned to be
generally not representative any more as most companies use
cheaper Chinese products. Is this also the case for your country
and if yes, should either the model / brand or the whole
product be replaced?
BH XI. Computers and other
information processing
equipment
 IS: We would appreciate more variation in this BH, so that
the latest model as well as “last-years” model could be
available. Is this just a specialty of the Icelandic market or is
this valid for your market, too?
BH XII. Electrical machinery
and apparatus
 Generally many of the Asea Brown Boveri items / models
seem to be outdated. Do you have any proposals for new ABB
items or alternative brands?
 IS: We would appreciate more variation in this BH, so that
the latest model as well as “last-years” model could be
available. Is this just a specialty of the Icelandic market or is
this valid for your market, too?
BH XIII. Radio, television and
communications equipment
and apparatus
 NO: Generally it could be good to have some “surveillance
systems” in the survey as companies often buy these systems
and not the single parts of it.

BH XIV. Medical, precision and
optical instruments, watches
and clocks
 HU: Ultrasound equipment and a centrifuge or other
laboratory equipment could be added. The ultrasound
equipment should perhaps be the type of equipment used in a
medical practice rather than bigger (more expensive)
equipment used in hospitals.
 IE: Flue gas analysers (e.g. from Testo) as well as ultrasound
equipment and laboratory equipment could be added. Also
Omron blood pressure monitors.
 Some countries mentioned the Tektronix digital oscilloscopes
to be outdated. Do you have ideas for alternative
brands/models?
BH XVI. Motor vehicles,
trailers and semi-trailers
 Some countries mentioned very advanced statistics (in-house)
for car registrations and prices which they can use to get
further insight for this BH. Maybe something like this also
exists in your country?
 There were differing comments on the mix of small, medium
and executive cars and the representativity for the company
car markets. Some wanted a greater choice of smaller cars,
other of cars with bigger engines. Do you have any comments
on this? Do you wish to have any brands or models to be
added to the 2015 survey? > E.g. an Opel Corsa could be added
as a new small service car.
 Concerning the choice of truck brands, DAF trucks were
mentioned to possibly be a good alternative for the 2015
survey.
 For some models (vans, trucks etc.) problems concerning the
EURO 6 regulations occurred. Some models will not be
produced any more in the future, as it would be too expensive
to modernize the production to fulfill the regulations. Do you
have similar cases?
 What is your opinion concerning the share and relevance of
Hybrid or E-Cars in the survey?
 What is your opinion concerning petrol and diesel engines?
Was the mix in the 2013 survey representative for your
country?
BH XVII. Software
 As the items in this BH have a very short product live cycle they
will be updated for the 2015 survey. Do you have any
suggestions or wishes for alternative brands or versions that
should be used?
