Book Review
Architecture
or Maybe…
Write a 300 word book review
for The Jungle. Explain who
would enjoy this novel and why.
Critique any part of it, and point
out key scenes readers might
find especially interesting.
Better reference a REAL review
to do this correctly!
Create a model of the family’s
house. Include the furnishings
they were able to provide
(house discussed on
pp. 53, 54, 62, 64, 74,
94, 95, 200 and 201).
Create and present (movie,
PowerPoint, cartoon, etc.) an
alternative ending to the book.
Starting from Chapter 28, how
would your version end? As
regards the presentation: I wish
to SEE this ending!

Is there a Doctor in the house?
Create a collage, the size of a ½
poster board, which represents
Packingtown and it’s effect on
the lives of the family. Use
magazines, internet, hand-drawn
images to capture the horrors of
living and working in Packington.
Images should cover every bit of
the poster – no white space
should be visible.
Write 6 journal/diary entries for
one of the characters. Include
their thoughts and feelings
during key events in the novel.
Be sure to choose the major
events in this character’s role.
Make the finished product look
like a journal/diary that would
be owned by your character.
Stage a session that a character
has with his/her therapist. You
should take on the persona of a
character. This can be recorded,
or scripted.

Obituary
Create a timeline for a character.
If possible, extend it beyond the
events in the novel. Recall the
events of their story from the
beginning of the novel until the
end.
Present clips of songs (a song
collage) whose lyrics represent
elements of the book. Be sure to
explain how the lyrics fit the
plot, characters, or theme. Songs
must be clean of profanity and
suitable for a classroom
environment.
Present a eulogy or epitaph for
one characters. You may choose
anyone whether they died in the
novel or “afterwards.” A normal
eulogy or epitaph runs about
250 words. Use the internet or
newspaper to reference correct
formatting.
