Q.1 Answer the following questions in one or two sentences each:
(1). what is multimedia computer?
Ans- A multimedia computer system integrates two or more types of media, such as text, graphic
images, sound (audio) and video. It can create import, store, retrieve, edit and delete any of these types
of media materials.
(2). State the hardware and software you need in your computer to run multimedia applications.
Ans- A multimedia hardware include speakers or headphone, microphone, CD-drive, sound card, video
or TV-input card and camera attachment. You will also need multimedia software like Sound Recorder
and Media Player.
(3). what is sound recording?
Ans(4). what is the use of a compact disc?
Ans-A compact disc which is used to store and retrieve data and programs. You can purchase CDs of
computer software, computer games, songs, motion pictures, etc. with the help of appropriate
software. You can store your pictures and text files as well as songs and movies on these discs.
(5). what is meant by scanning a picture?
Ans-the process of capturing a picture as a grid of small dots and converting the color information of
each dot into the digital language of the computer is called Scanning. The device used for scanning a
picture into a computer is called a scanner.
(6). What are the advantages of a scanner?
Ans- A picture scanned into a computer can be saved permanently for future. A scanned picture can be
edited using appropriate software. You can change its size and proportion, color and resolution to suit
your purpose. You can save both the original and edited picture. A scanned photographs, drawings and
text can be combined together, as in designing a book for magazine.
(7). Write in brief the construction of a flat bed scanner.
Ans- A flat-bed scanner is a rectangular box with a flat, transparent glass on top. There is an opaque
hinged cover to protect the glass surface from the dust and scratches. Inside the box, the scanning lamp
and a sensor strip are moved very slowly along the length of the box.
(8). State the different types of scanners available.
Ans- Scanners can be classified in two ways, by scanning size and scanning resolution. Scanning size
includes, Hand held scanner, A4 size scanners and Half-imperial size scanners. Scanning resolutions
depend upon the sharpness of an image that you see on the monitor or on a printed page depend on
the number of dots per inch. This sharpness is called resolution.
(9). what precautions will you take while using a scanner?
Ans- the glass top surface of the flat-bed scanner must be kept free from dust and finger prints. Dust
blurs your scanned image and also leaves permanent scratch marks on the glass surface. So that, the
next scanned image will not be sharp. The glass top is pretty costly distortion-free glass. It should not be
subjected to any heavy pressure and obviously no heavy object should be kept on it. The opaque cover
should be in place before beginning a scan.

5. State briefly the use of the following:
(1) Sound Card: - A sound card has some additional electronic circuit required to input or output sound
into or out of a computer. The sound card connects directly on to the computers motherboard inside
the system unit. Sound input and output hardware’s, like microphone and loudspeaker, are to the sound
card. The sound card converts the sound signals from a microphone into digital sound data for editing
and storage in a computer.
(2) TV Tuner card:- in order to see television format video on the computer’s monitor you will need a
video card. Like the sound card, a video card also connects directly onto the computer’s motherboard. A
TV Tuner card is a special type of video card. The cable-TV connection is given to the TV Tuner card then;
you can see the television programs on your computer’s monitor or store them for future viewing.
(3) Mute button in Media Player: - It is use to turn the sound on or off.
(4) Shuffle button in Media Player: - to turn shuffle on or off. If the shuffle is turned on, items in a
playlist or tracks on a CD are played in a random order.
