Friar Lawrence – Though he is trying to help Juliet in this act, the friar is actually making things worse. He is both an adult and a religious role model. He needs to be setting a good example, but instead he is encouraging Juliet to lie and fake her own death. Juliet – This act reflects the desperation of Juliet. She is so desperate to be with Romeo that she is willing to fake her own death to be with him. Juliet’s Parents – When they come into her room and see her “dead” at the end of the act, their reaction is full of emotion. This is surprising considering how uninvolved they have been in their life of their daughter thus far. Draw the most important scene of this act. She is totally focused on herself and her current feelings. “Religious distortion” The friar is not living up to his role as a respected religious authority.
