Liberal Arts Education- What People Say
 “ “We’ve always tried to be at the intersection of technology
and liberal arts, to be able to get the best of both, to make
extremely advanced products from a technology point of view,
but also have them be intuitive, easy to use, fun to use, so that
they really fit the users – the users don’t have to come to them,
they come to the user.”
Steven Jobs
 It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that
he does not really need a college. He can learn them from
books. The value of an education in a liberal arts college is not
learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think
something that cannot be learned from textbooks.”
Albert Einstein

 Theme: Indian Fashion Through the
Ages
The costumes of India, colorful and thrilling in their
endless variety, are a fascinating subject. Study of any
country’s fashion involves a study of continuous
process of evolution of clothing based on various
factors. This evolution is as natural and spontaneous as
the thinking of the human mind. Indian costumes have
taken their distinct shape and form, in response to the
climate, social structure, religion and political changes
that mark the vast span of Indian territory and also the
vicissitudes of its long history.
ROUND – I ANCIENT TREASURE

•
India has a rich and varied textile heritage. Each region of India has its
own unique native costume and accessories. In India the mix of
language, food and culture changes every 80-100 kilometers, making
its fashion as diverse as the culture and tradition of the country. This
adds to the complexity and interest to the study of costumes.
individuality.
Ancient Indian clothing primarily comprised of lengths of fabric
draped aesthetically around the body by both men and women in many
interesting ways. Simple in its form, elegant in its drape, complete
with the jewelry and ornament, ancient Indian clothing had enough
scope to express the wearer’s individuality.
ROUND – II MEDIEVAL INDIAN CLOTHING

Traditional Indian clothing is synonymous with the clothing of royal India. The medieval history of India is
largely dominated by incidents of foreign rules and invasions which has affected the costume immensely.
The dressing style of the bygone
eras, when Maharajas and
Maharanis used to spend
extravagantly to flaunt their
power and wealth. Especially,
their clothing was most
reminiscent of the splendor and
luxury which continues to
inspire the fashion and trends of
modern India even today.
ROUND – III CONTEMPORARY INDIAN FASHIONS

Modern Indian clothing worn today is a result of influence of
many foreign cultures especially the Britishers on Indian
culture and life style. The dressing style of modern Indian
youth is not very far from that of their contemporaries
around the globe. Moreover, today’s generation is open to
experimentation with their wardrobe giving way to a fusion
of western and eastern design sensibilities.
