Lean Manufacturing Engineer August 2010 – August 2012
Coordinated and implemented improvements through kaizen events in various processes of the plant.
Implemented lean manufacturing concepts in the kitting area: Reduced the 8 wastes of lean manufacturing .
Results: 1) FTC (First Time Capability) improvement from around 80% to 99%, 2) Reduced labor process from 6 to 3 people in the area, 3) Optimized space in the area. Also: instituted ongoing lean manufacturing training on the shop floor, established one-piece flow process, redesigned layout and process tools, defined standardized work, developed work balance analysis, established planned part location for around 300 hundred different part numbers (raw materials and assemblies) and estimated minimum and maximum quantities. As well, implemented kanban and conveyance system.
Implemented kaizen in the boxing and packaging area of the plant.
Improved the quality by reducing the defects and reduced labour from 6 to 4 people in the area. Established one-piece flow and redesigned the

Implemented planned part locations in the metalfab area.
Results included: ergonomic and safe racks, increased space of the shop floor and reduced overproduction and transportation. Designed, prototyped and implemented new racks for the doorframes, defined minimums and maximum for around 60 part numbers and defined kanban process.
Coordinated and implemented kaizen in the sewing area.
In a manufacturing cell of 6 people established one-piece flow process, standardized work and work balance. Defined kanban system for raw materials of the manufacturing cell. Established standardized work for the Decks process in the Jeep JK sewing area; defined process flow and ‘takt time ’. Designed a heijunka board for the Jeep JK windows and curtains and established kanban system.

Compiled and analyzed information of the main variables that affected the perfume glass bottles on the shop floor. Contributed to the creation of a control process program for the manufacturing area for high and low demand glass bottles.
Key team member for establishing control limits and standardized values in order to improve the productivity and reduce quality defects. Helped in the coordination and implementation of a 5’s and lean manufacturing principles in the glass machines workshop and generated ideas for improvements in production area.

Designed optimal layout routes for machine installations in AutoCAD and supported information with project managers. Central point of contact with external vendor suppliers from order to shipments.
