Finally as the United States has influenced and contributed to its development so that we can improve our lives. The consumerism Consumerism is when a person wants to have non-essential goods or services in excess. Consumerism is when you do not think about other people and things they need and only use one. Consumerism can occur for many reasons such as: advertising, the idea of use and discard, low quality goods and low price, culture, and when people do not know their basic needs to spend only what is necessary. The effects of consumerism are not positive as to generate could damage all the people people as low-quality items have to be thrown away and 1 Luis Alberto Leal Villamil 7 A this causes environmental damage to rivers and seas of the planet. At the national level does not generate positive effects because it makes one person has all the benefits we all should rightfully have. On a personal level makes us increase our expenses and we often have to throw away used goods not why we do not spend enough time for everything. This is the base of the consumerism Work, Buy, Consume and Die This is when we are consumerism and don’t give the resources to others How the consumerism affects EEUU: while nearly 3,000 million people live on less than $ 2 per day, over 1,700 million, or more than 25% of the world, has adopted a lifestyle that in the past was exclusive to the rich. However, this consumer appetite is not only affecting the poor, but also the sectors with greater resources. According to the Worldwatch Institute, the country with higher levels of consumption is the United States, where there are more cars than people who have permission to drive them. A classic example of consumerism: in the U.S. There are more cars than drivers. But not for That Americans said That They Are the happiest more. When somebody asked, only one third of them said to be "very happy". That date is almost the same of those who believed very happy in 1957 when the levels of wealth in the country accounted for half of the current. 2 Luis Alberto Leal Villamil 7 A A comic about U.S consumerism A minimarket in Portland, Oregon, USA. The popular culture: Popular culture is the set of cultural patterns, literary and artistic expressions created primarily by poor people. The effects of this culture are positive because it makes possible new musical genres such as jazz created in the U.S. plantations and rap and reggae. But to can be harmful because many people use graffiti to damage walls or murals. It also has a good progress in the field of technology since many videogames have been designed based on the life of poor people. Also the manga and comics are designed for the poor as a means of escape to the world and to free their art. The popular culture are the poor people An example of popular culture was the grafitis How USA influences Colombia: United States is a country that has influenced much of Colombia because this country has customs that Colombia has "copied" and used a very clear example is the consumerism. In the United population is being practice the consumerism States the 90% of the and have all what they want, here in Colombia the percentage of the population that wants to be a consumer is 70%. Another clear example is in 3 the U.S. there are Luis Alberto Leal Villamil 7 A more cars driving licenses here in Colombia there are 41 million mobile lines that is 92.87% of the population. Another example is the popular culture because they can see the graffiti on the streets as in the poorest sectors of the U.S. as the Bronx in New York. We saw see too how the advertising and the U.S. popular culture (people of lower social class) influences Colombian poor people, as we see in the with the graffiti’s or the new music being created as reggaeton or heavy metal. Finally we saw as consumerism is already "inside" in the minds of many people to create products of lower quality and make money faster. In this quarter I have learned about the consumerism and how it affect our culture and how U.S influence the Colombian commerce and finally how the popular culture of U.S influence us to create new things. 4 Luis Alberto Leal Villamil 7 A I think that my performance in this bimester was not the best because I did not put attention on the work deadlines. These happen to me when I travel to Medellin to represent the school in one sport competition and I don’t care about the works that we have to do the days that we is on Medellin. GOALS I should improve my lecture I should bring the work at time I should put attention about the deadlines works when I don’t go to class I should do the homework’s.
