NOTES
1
JMU also offers a B.A. and B.S. degree in Economics and a B.S. degree in Quantitative Finance (QFIN).
 The B.A. in Economics requires foreign language proficiency through the intermediate level (202) and a
philosophy course. Students interested in this degree are encouraged to begin their foreign language at
Germanna.
 Students interested in QFIN should complete MTH166 in lieu of MTH163 and MTH173 in lieu of MTH270 and
take MTH174 and MTH277 as transfer electives. QFIN is an interdisciplinary major that includes minors in
economics and math. It does not require students to complete the BBA core courses. Students may also
consider completing the General Studies degree incorporating the aforementioned math and ECO201 and 202
and ACC211.
 International Business requires foreign language beyond the intermediate level. It is strongly recommended that
students complete the foreign language proficiency before transferring with the associate’s degree for this major.
2
Students must complete 10 lower-level B.B.A. core courses before they are formally accepted to the JMU
College of Business. These courses transfer to the College of Business at JMU (Germanna course is listed first,
followed by the JMU equivalency in parentheses): ACC 211 & 212 (COB 241 & 242), ECO 201 & 202 (ECON 200 &
201), MTH 270 (MATH 205), and BUS220 (COB191) or MTH 157 or 240 (MATH220 which can be substituted for COB
191). There are four additional courses required, COB 202, COB204, COB218, and COB 291, for which there are no
equivalents at Germanna. These 10 courses comprise the lower-level BBA core.
In order to be formally accepted to the JMU College of Business, students must achieve a JMU GPA of 2.7 in the core
courses (with the exception of calculus). Only grades for courses taken at JMU will be used in the GPA calculation.

While the A.A. & S. degree will fulfill all General Education requirements at JMU, some courses may not transfer,
resulting in the loss of credit. For more information, consult the VCCS – JMU Course Equivalents,
http://www.jmu.edu/registrar/transfer/vccs_index.shtml.

7
Complete any ONE course from ART, ENG Lit., HUM, MUS, PHI, REL, or foreign language (Not ASL)
8
Any two-semester sequence from BIO, CHM or PHY (ex. BIO101 & 102) Note: BIO141-142 & GOL105 -106 do not
meet the LAB science requirement at Germanna
9
Students graduating from this program must demonstrate proficiency in specific computer competencies by passing
ITE 115 (transfer elective) or an equivalent competency test. If successful testing out of ITE115 than choose a
transfer elective from this site http://www.germanna.edu/counseling-center/transfer-electives.asp and verify that it
transfers to JMU by checking JMU Course Equivalents link under footnote 3. Students interested in CIS and who test
out of ITE115 may want to take ITP120 = CIS221@JMU as their 2nd transfer elective. CIS221 is not a prerequisite for
the College of Business but does fulfills a CIS core course requirement.
Differential tuition for College of Business majors/minors took effect fall 2014. Students are charged an additional $50
per credit for all College of Business courses (with the exception of ECON 200 and BUS160):
