SUITCASING & OUTBOARDING POLICY

The Atlantic Bakery Deli Dairy Expo is striving to help all Exhibitors have a successful show. Accordingly, we are taking increased steps to protect Exhibitors from “suitcasing/outboarding” at the show. Our policy is below and will be posted on signage at the show and be included in the show guide.

Statement Of Intent

To protect our Exhibitors and the investment they have made in participating in our event we have established rules that explicitly prohibit “suitcasing”, “outboarding” or any form of solicitation by attendees at the show whose companies do not have Exhibit

Booths at the show. By suitcasing and outboarding the show, an attendee gains an unfair competitive advantage over ABDDE

Exhibitors that have invested money and other resources to exhibit and deprives ABDDE as the show’s owner of income we use to support our programs and initiatives.

Suitcasing and Outboarding Defined

“Suitcasing” and “Outboarding” are unethical business practices where industry non-exhibitors attempt to gain access to trade show attendees. Suitcasing refers to those non-exhibiting companies or persons who go to shows as an attendee but “work the aisles” to solicit business in the aisles or the lobby area. Outboarding refers to non-exhibiting companies that set-up exhibits at off-site locations

(hotel hospitality suites or restaurants) and encourage show attendees to leave the show floor and spend time with them.

Here are some examples:

A non-exhibitor solicits attendees in the aisles or lobby.

A non-exhibitor piggybacks on the activities of a third party such as a vendor or partner who is exhibiting.

A non-exhibitor sets up a hospitality room off the show floor and invites attendees to leave the show floor and visit their suite.

Consequences of Suitcasing or Outboarding at the ABBDE

Show

Any ABDDE attendee, who is not registered as a Non Exhibiting

Vendor and is observed to be soliciting business in the aisles or other public spaces, or uninvited attendees in another company’s booth, will be asked to leave immediately. Additionally, known commercial activity from a hotel guest room or hospitality suite, a restaurant or any other public place in proximity to the ABDDE Show by nonexhibiting companies will be shut down.
