ASSOCIATION OF ACCOUNTING TECHNICIANS (AAT) FAQs What courses are being offered? We are offering the Certificate in Accounting Level 2, the Diploma in Accounting Level 3 and the Diploma in Accounting Level 4. What units will I study? Level 2: Processing bookkeeping transactions Control accounts, journals and the banking system Work effectively in accounting and finance Basic costing Computerised accounting Level 3: Accounts preparation Prepare final accounts for sole traders and partnerships Costs and revenues Indirect tax Professional ethics Spreadsheet software Level 4: Financial statements Budgeting Financial performance Internal control and accounting systems Cash management External auditing How long will the course take to complete? Level 2 – The course consisting of 5 units is scheduled to run from 9 September 2013 to 30 June 2014. Level 3 – The course consisting of 6 units is scheduled to run from 9 September 2013 to 16 June 2014. Level 4 – The course consists of 6 units. The first 4 units are scheduled to run from 16 September to 23 June 2014. The remaining 2 units will be taught as from September 2014. What are the tuition fees? Level 2 - £400 Level 3 - £400 Level 4 – This will vary according to the duration of individual units and the numbers of students who register. Once final numbers are known, students will be notified of the fee. Are there any additional fees? Yes. Books – The Gibraltar College will not provide text books for students. Students will be responsible for acquiring their own books. AAT registration fee – Students are advised that in order to sit for AAT examinations, they will need to register directly with AAT within 4 weeks of commencing the course. There will be a registration fee set by AAT. Students can register here: www.aat.org.uk Examination fees – At the time of publication, exam fees, per unit, are as follows: Level 2 - £35 Level 3 - £38 Level 4 - £40 What is the assessment procedure? AAT assesses the skills you’ve developed using flexible and practical computer based tests (CBTs), eprojects and/or work based evidence. There’s no set time to take these tests – you can sit them as and when you’re ready, with the agreement of your training provider. The usual procedure is as follows: your lecturer will provide the Examinations Officer with a list of candidates wishing to sit the tests at the end of the unit. You will be notified of the date and time of your test shortly after. Opportunities for resits will be available during certain times of the year. This has to be agreed directly with the Examinations Officer.
