Buninyong was first settled in 1841, and the Mt Buninyong reserve around the top of an extinct volcano was set aside as a
public park in 1866. This circuit walk goes from the township to the top of the mountain (approx 250m climb) and back via
the von Mueller designed botanical gardens. On the mountain look for eucalypts, a 10,000 year old crater, koalas and 360
degree views over farmland.

This walk circuit encompasses hill country west of Daylesford, taking in historic mining sites, farming settlements and views
of extinct volcanoes. Starting from Tipperary Springs, situated 1 km west of the Midland Highway as it leaves Daylesford,
the walk will take an anticlockwise route, mainly on tracks, with a few short, sharp hills (maximum of 100m up and down).
We’ll visit the Blowhole, blasted out by miners to divert the stream, so they could pan for gold, and other mine sites, as well
as three mineral springs.

Walking the Northern circuit of the impressive 7km Cathedral Range just north of Buxton. Walk starts from Cooks Mill and
covers The Cathedral, Little Cathedral, The Farm Yard, North and South Jaw Bones. Good views of the surrounding
country and of the Sugarloaf Peak at the southern end of the range (walk early next year). Walk grade is MH but there are
some hard sections such as a steep climb and a rocky ridge. Walk offers a chance to do some Geocaching for those
interested.

Point and under Johnston St. Cross the footbridge, pass the Childrens Farm and stop for a quick breakfast at the
Abbotsford Convent Bakery. Then return via Dights Falls and Deep Rock back to Studley Park.

Walk starts/ends at Mackenzies Flat ( toilets ) and initially will entail 5kms. of rockhopping and scrambling over large log
jambs along the river to the Lerderderg Weir. Here we ascend approx. 400mts. up Long Spur. Along the Blackwod Range
Track, great views are had of gorge and surrounds weather permitting.
It is strongly suggested that you have at least 3 liters of drink on board and pole/s are handy if you use them.You also need
to be confident of footfall when rockhopping and ankle supporting boots are recommended.

Starting from Baw Baw village we will walk to Mt Baw Baw summit, then go cross country to Howitt Hill and follow the ridge
line across Talbot Plains, Wombat Flat, picking up the Alpine Walking Track before the end of the plateau. We will follow
this track back to Mount Saint Phillack, returning to the village via Currawong and MacMillans Flat. Moslty off track,
navigation skills required, or a good chance to practise them, many short ups and downs all day. This is the time when the
wild flowers should be at their best. Due back in Melbourne 8pm.

The craftsman bungalows of designer and builder, Algernon Elmore (1882-1961) relate in particular aesthetic and
functional ways to the Blackburn landscape when it was a rural suburb 1910-1929. The story/walk includes "The Paddock",
Blackburn Lake Sanctuary, Gardiner’s Creek, artists of the Heidelberg School and conservation concerns in this suburban
idyll. Please note : we will catch the 7.56 am train from Glenferrie Station. Bring Morning Tea to share. Return from

Tracks around Mt Donna Buang were destroyed by fires on Black Saturday 2009, many have disappeared completely,
some now firebreaks. After 4 years we will see what regeneration has taken place. It is intended that we walk from Mt
Donna Buang to Mt Boobyalla and on to Boobyalla Saddle. From here, depending on the state of the tracks, we may walk
to The Knobs and return or follow roads skirting Watts Creek Reference area. Total climbing will be about 400 m.

(1835m) where, if the weather is clear, we should have some spectacular views of the Main Range (Mt. Kosciusko and the
Victorian Alps (Bogong High Plains) . We will look for the source of the Murray at Cowombat Flat and at this time of the
year we should see many wildflowers on route.

This circuit walk of the summit of Mt Dandenong links two large sections of the National Park, visits Olinda Falls, Mt
Dandenong Arboretum and two of the best viewpoints overlooking Melbourne. Starting from Olinda, the route circuits the
Olinda Golf Course and passes the National Rhododendron Gardens before dropping down to Doreys Bridge over the
Olinda Creek. It’s up hill all the way after that (200+m over 3km) to lunch at the half way point on top of Mt Dandenong.
The return route takes in Burkes Lookout and passes the Channel 10 transmission tower before dropping down into
Dandenong Creek and, from there, back up to Olinda.

This walk has been classified as a hard walk due to the distance travelled and some steep sections en route. Part of the
walk will be along old timber tram tracks logging companies used to take timber to the sawmills located in the bush near
Warburton and Powelltown. Evidence of the logging days are seen as we pass old mill sites. We will walk through forests
of myrtle beech and mountain ash.

Discover our cultural and environmental heritage whilst cleaning up the shoreline on the Coastal Artists’ Trail between
Mentone and Brighton. We are leaving from the tram terminus corner of Cotham/ Glenferrie Roads at 7.37 am for tram trip
to Malvern station. The journey continues by train to Mentone station and then a longish walk along the foreshore between
Mentone and Brighton; returning home by train and tram from Middle Brighton station. Please note that this is a long
walk/cleanup, however we will have breaks; including one at Rickett's Point tea house, if desired. There are also optingout points at Sandringham (save 7 kms) and Brighton Beach (save 4 kms) for train connection home.Bring usual
bushwalking gear, stout gardening gloves and lunch. Frequent collection points for disposal of rubbish bags. Don’t forget

An opportunity to do sections of iconic Victorian Alps walks as day walks. All walks are return walks. Range of walks,
depending on the availability of leaders, include:
 Mt Feathertop via the Razorback. Start/finish at Diamantina Hut. Distance 22km. Grade MH. 7-9 hrs of walking.
Beautiful views all the way. More or less level, with a few steepish pinches on the way to Federation Hut. Breathtaking
views from the site of the Tom Kneen memorial cross near the base of Feathertop for those who don’t feel they can ascend
to the summit.
 Dibbins Hut Start/finish at the Mt Loch carpark. Distance 20km. Grade MH. 7-9 hrs of walking. 700m descent to
Dibbins Hut in the last 1km (and up again for the return). Views all the way. Those who do not want to make the
descent/ascent can wait on the ridge above Dibbins Hut. Possibility to turn the walk into a circuit walk, returning via Red
Robin Mine (strenuous uphill all the way out of the Cobunga Gap back to the Mt Loch carpark). Distance: 22km. Grade H.
8-10 hrs of walking.
 Mt Lock. E return walk of 7km.
 Aqueduct Trail / Cobungra Ditch Walk. 12.5km EM along the water race (car shuffle) or M return walk of 18km
 Mt Tabletop return. Star/finish at JB Hut. Distance 12m. Grade M. 5-6hrs of walking. Climbs both coming and going.
Or perhaps Precipice Plain. Start/Finish at Dinner Plain. Distance 18km. Grade M. 6-7 hrs of walking.
 The Twins. Start/finish at Mt Hotham-Dargo Rd turnoff. The steep climb of about 400m to The Twins is rewarded by
spectacular and completely unobstructed views in every direction. Distance 10km. Grade EM+. 3-4hrs of walking.
ACCOMMODATION: Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights at APEA Lodge. Bunk style rooms, some double. Communal
kitchen, sitting and dining room and sauna. BYO food, bedding, bath towels etc. Cost: $32ph per night. Firm booking and
payment required by February club meeting.

This walk goes down through quiet bushland to clifftops overlooking the ocean. We walk through tall ironbark trees and
past curious grasstrees together with silver banksias, correas and white daisy. We walk up the Point Addis Road to the
carpark and see the view from here, and then on to Black Bluff for lunch. There will need to be a car shuffle. The walk
ends in the township of Anglesea.

The weather in May might be kind to us. You will be given information on how to get there, the theme for the weekend,
what to bring and food to share closer to the time. Apart from that all is unknown until it happens. We will be camping
somewhere, there will be a large tent to fit everyone to have meals in. Walks will be close to the campsite (hopefully) and

Club Meetings: Phyllis Hore Room next to Kew Library off Cotham Rd, Kew, from 7:30pm for 8:00pm
 To join a walk, book (up to 8 weeks in advance) by adding your name and details on the appropriate walk
sheet at Club meetings, or after the last preceding meeting by contacting the Walk Leader. If you later
wish to cancel, please advise the Leader promptly.
 Be familiar with our Club’s “Overdue Walks Procedure” - refer to the Members Handbook for full details.
The last page of this program explains your responsibility as a walker.
 Be adequately fit and suitably clothed and equipped for your walks. If you are not, the Walk Leader has
the right to refuse your participation in the walk.
 Any medical condition that could affect you during the walk must be advised to the Walk Leader (in
confidence) before leaving Melbourne.
 Keep to the spirit of our Club’s Code of Ethics (refer to Section 15 of the Member’s Handbook).
 Visitors must pay the Walk Leader $5 per day of walking, to a limit of $15 for three or more days.
