KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
Welcome to Calvary Christian Center!
Finding a church that is on the move and making the decision to
get connected is not by accident, it is by divine appointment! God has a
plan for your life—you were born to do something very specific, that only
you can accomplish! In the message translation of the Bible, God says
in the scripture Jeremiah 29:11, “I know what I'm doing. I have it all
planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give
you the future you hope for.” God connects people to churches on
purpose so He can bring forth their own unique vision within a corporate
vision. Every partner at Calvary Christian Center has been drawn in by
God to be a piece of the puzzle that builds the kingdom of God.
As you venture out on your journey to the Kingdom Building
Classes, I encourage you to pick up the torch and pursue your destiny
like never before and I declare that you will never be the same again!
In His Service,
Drs. Phillip and Brenda Goudeaux

KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
CLASS 101 – WEEK 1
INTRODUCTION TO THE KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
Have any of these questions come across your mind?
⇨ What is Calvary Christian Center (CCC) is all about?
⇨ Will I fit in at this church?
⇨ How can I become a partner and get involved by serving in a ministry?
If so, we believe you will receive the answers as you experience The Kingdom Building
Classes! In these series of classes, you will learn what CCC teaches and what we
believe, while strengthening your spiritual foundation and providing an opportunity to
become a partner of this great church.
The Bible teaches that we (the believers) are the church—not the building where church
is held. Our desire is that every student that completes these classes will feel welcomed
with a deep sense of belonging. No matter what level you are in your spiritual walk, our
prayer is that you will find ways to get involved in the vision of the church and
consequently enrich your life, the church and its partners.
The Kingdom Building classes are designed to guide you through the process of
becoming a partner of the church, getting connected to the Ministry of Helps and
understanding the vision of the ministry. By the time you complete this course, your life
will be enriched because you will know your purpose and you will be used in a mighty way
to advance the Kingdom of God.
The course curriculum combines a variety of classes that have been taught at CCC,
which have been condensed, in addition to classes that Rick Warren (Purpose Driven
Life, Saddleback Church) has used to develop successful leaders. The objective is to help
you fulfill your purpose and experience God’s best for your life.
These Kingdom Building Classes are constructed of six classes which will be covered
over a twelve week period. The curriculum outline is as follows:

PHASE I
CLASS 101: GETTING TO KNOW CCC (GOD’S CALL)
Objective: The purpose of this lesson is to enthusiastically connect the student to
Calvary Christian Center (CCC) by sharing the origin of the ministry, what the ministry
offers in terms of spiritual growth and development and show the student how they fit in to
the vision. The student will also learn to accept the experience of God's grace in their life
so they can testify about their relationship with Jesus Christ and understand that God
pursues and seeks an eternal relationship with them.

James 5:8)
What is required to be born again?
 First, we must live a new life. Birth is the beginning of life; to be born again is to
begin anew
 Secondly, we must have a new nature, new principles, new affections, new
aims, new goals, and a new vision for life.
 By our first birth we are corrupt, living in sin and iniquity so then we must
undergo a second birth
 We must be born of God or born again
 The new birth is to be born to a divine and heavenly life, a life of communion
with God. In order to do this, we must take on a divine nature
 We cannot understand the grace of God or the nature of things pertaining to the
kingdom of God until our natural man becomes a spiritual man
 To be born again is to be born of the Spirit
 The change is not received by our own wisdom or power, but by the power and
influence of the Spirit of grace
The Triune God

▪ Acts 8:20
BAPTISM
 There are two signs of God pursuing you. One is through Water Baptism
Building a Community
15 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
and the other is through Communion:
 Jesus has given the Church two primary ordinances to follow:
a) Water Baptism (Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19-20; 1
Corinthians 11:23-34;; Acts 2:36-41; Colossians 2:12).
b) Communion (also called The Lord’s Supper)
a) Water Baptism
 After salvation every believer should be baptized.
▪ Matthew 3:13 -16
▪ Acts 8:26 -36
▪ Colossians 2:11- 12
▪ God’s way to leave the old you behind for the new you
o
Galatians 3:27
o
Acts 19:5
o
Acts 18:8
● Baptism is the outward sign of the presence of God inside of you: God
pursuing you!
● Why should I be baptized?
▪ To follow Christ’s example. (Mark 1:9)
▪ Because Christ commanded it. (Matt. 8:19-20)
▪ Because it shows that God’s gift of faith is at work in your life. (Acts 18:8)
▪ It demonstrates to others that you are a believer. (1 John 2:3)
● How the Bible says to “Be baptized”
▪ With water, by a Christian, and in front of other people. (Matt. 3:16)
▪ Baptism as it is described in the Bible with water & IMMERSION!
▪ Offer each person the opportunity to share what they have experienced
● Who should be baptized?
▪ People who believe and receive – including families (Acts 16 :25-34)
● When are we to be baptized?
▪ As soon as you believe (Acts 2:41) (Mk 10:13-16) (Ex. 34:7b) (Ps. 51:2-5)
(Acts 16:31-33)
▪ What are “sponsors” or “godparents” (1 Thes. 5:11)
▪ It is recommended that each person being baptized have two sponsors or
godparents—people who are models of faith.
● It is important to understand that without first making Jesus Lord of your life and
believing that God raised Him from the dead, water baptism has no purpose.
● Water baptism is not only significant to the person being baptized, but it also

testifies to his or her community what happened when their life was changed by
Jesus.
It confirms and strengthens the new believer’s commitment to live a godly life.
It gives the believer the opportunity to openly testify to others of his experience
of having been crucified with Christ, buried with Him and raised together with
Him to walk in newness of life (Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:4-6).
The significance of water baptism is clear when you understand the meaning of
the original Greek verb “baptidzo.” It means “to immerse.”
Water baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ
and the identification of the believer with Him in those events
Immersion is a picture of burial.
Some churches sprinkle or pour water in the baptismal ceremony but CCC
believes in complete submersion
Romans 6:4-6 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been
planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the
likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified
with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we
should not serve sin”
As you declare outwardly your identification with Jesus’ death, burial and
resurrection, this symbol will also be a significant reminder to you of what’s
happened in your life, strengthening you in your Christian journey!
What cleanses us from sin is not the water but the precious blood that Jesus
shed on the cross (see Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:22; Revelation 1:5).
Baptism is every first Sunday of the month at CCC-North. Class begins at
4:30pm
b) Communion
● Jesus gave his life for you. (1 Cor. 11:23-26)
▪ We partake of communion in remembrance of Jesus and what He did on
the cross for us
▪ His body was broken for our healing and His blood was shed for our
deliverance (remission of sins)
▪ The Lord’s Supper is a present reminder of what God has done for you.
▪ What is the Communion / The Lord’s Supper?
▪ Bread = His Body
▪ Blood = The blood He shed for the remission of our sins
▪ Proclamation of our RELATIONSHIP, FELLOWSHIP with God and each
other (1 Cor. 11:23-26)
● God Pursuing in “The Passover” of the Old Testament

17 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
● Communion is an essential part of the Christian life.
● Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is symbolic of the blood and body of
Jesus Christ.
● Jesus told His disciples to receive Communion as a remembrance of Him (1
Corinthians 11:24).
● While receiving Communion, remind yourself of the saving work Jesus did
for you on the cross.
● His body was broken, bruised and stricken for your complete healing.
● His blood was shed for our sin.
● Communion is the tangible reminder of Christ’s completed work on the
cross. We can rejoice as we receive Communion, knowing that we have
been freed from the curse of the law and are no longer in bondage to
poverty, sickness or (spiritual) death.
● It is important that when we receive Communion we take it seriously, being
mindful of all that Christ’s redemptive work did for us.
● Before receiving Communion, we are to examine ourselves closely so as to
receive the Lord’s Supper worthily.
● We are to search our hearts to find out if we need to repent of anything or to
forgive anyone, confess our sins before a loving and forgiving God, and rid
ourselves of any hate or unforgiveness in our hearts against fellow
Christians.
● When we receive Communion in this way, we do so having judged and
considered our own hearts (verses 27-31).
● The elements themselves are not what make Communion holy; it is the
manner in which they are taken. If you know that God desires for you to
receive Communion, don’t miss the opportunity because you don’t have
special elements on hand. Whether you use bread and grape juice or a
cracker and water is secondary in importance to what really matters, which
is receiving Communion with a pure heart as unto the Lord.
● Finally, there is no scriptural restriction on how many times or how often we
may receive Communion (verse 26).
● Taking Communion often is a dynamic discipline to implement into our lives.
It reminds us of the eternal covenant Jesus purchased for us with His own

● "If you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But
you must do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear
● People are looking for ways to live and feel fulfilled and not just today, but
forever! (Eccl. 1:2-4), (Eccl. 3:1-11)
● “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone
who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 )
● Two questions help me understand what and how I believe in God:
a. Do you feel that you have come to a place in your life where you know for
certain, without a doubt that if you were to die tonight, you would go to
heaven?
▪
My answer: ______________.
b. Suppose you were to die tonight, and the next thing you knew, you were

Surprising signs of Living “The Christian Life”
▪ Following Jesus (Matt. 4:18-22)
▪ It’s the difference between the “gospel” = truth and the “Gospel” = God
pursuing you in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit changing your life!
▪ God Pursuing You vs. God Chasing You.
▪ God pursuing and filling you will be obvious through results:

Four Spiritual Steps; RESPONDING TO GOD PURSUING ME
● What does God want me to do with my faith-gift?
1. ADMIT that God has not been the most important and in first place in my life
(1 John 1:9)
2. ACKNOWLEDGE that Jesus died to (Rom. 10:9) (Acts 4:12)
3. ACCEPT God’s free gift of salvation. (Eph. 2:8-9)
4. INVITE Jesus Christ to come and reveal himself in your life and be the
director/boss, “Lord” of your life. (John 1:12-13) (Rev. 3:20)
 Pray a prayer of those four points (Rom. 10:13)
UNDERSTAND AND SHARE YOUR FAITH
● Why doesn’t God just take us to heaven?


Answer: Because there are two things you can’t do in heaven that you can do
on earth:
1. Sin
2. Tell others about Jesus Christ

My Faith Story/Testimony
 Why should I be ready to tell what God has done in my life? (1 Pet. 3:15)
 How to write it down: 3 parts
1. Life out of God’s control (Mark 5:4)
2. What occurred to change your life? What did you do? What happened?
(Mark 5:13)
3. How has your life changed (Mark 5:19b)
Conclusion: Calvary Christian Center has had phenomenal success despite
humble beginnings. In Isaiah 60:22 it says, “A little one shall become a thousand
and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time.” God’s saving
grace is so precious that God, with all His power, could not find any other way to
redeem us but through the blessed blood of His own Son. Through Jesus,
everything that man lost in Paradise was restored back to him through faith.
However, no man will be able to enjoy the abundant life without first admitting his

CLASS 201: PARTNERSHIP (NEW MEMBERS) OUR RESPONSE:
CLASS 201 – WEEK 1
Prerequisite: You have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ as your Lord and
Savior. Jesus said that our vertical relationship with God takes on its greatest meaning
when we live out His will in our horizontal relationship with God’s created and adopted
children on earth.
Course Objective: As I commit myself to Jesus Christ, I also commit myself to the body
of Christ in the congregation at CCC. Students will be able to define the term vision and
explain its characteristics. Students will also be able to explain what the Power of 12
vision and life groups consist of.
Foundational Scriptures: Ephesians 2:19, Galatians 6:10
 Do good (be a blessing) to others in the house of faith
3 Key Truths the Bible Teaches About the Church:
1. The church is a family
2. God expects you to be part of a church family.
3. A Christian without a church family is a contradiction
What we have in common (as believers in the body of Christ) because of Jesus
Christ:
1. Salvation - what God has done for us to give us life
2. Statement - why we exist as a church
3. Strategy - how we fulfill our purpose
4. Structure - when and where we fulfill our purpose
 For now we are all children of God through faith in Jesus Christ, and we who have
been baptized into union with Christ are enveloped by him. We are no longer Jews
or Greeks or slaves or free men or even merely men or women, but we are all the
same—we are Christians; we are one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26-28 )
 Our Family System ...who we are to God
 Our Salvation ...what God has done for us
 Our Statements ...why we exist as a church
 Our Strategy ...how we fulfill our purpose
 Our Structure ...when and where we fulfill our purpose


Why Our Church Must Never Stop Growing
 BECAUSE God loves people "The Lord ...is patient with you, not wanting any to
perish, but all to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) 2 Cor. 5:14, Luke 15:3-10,
Matt. 9:12-13
 BECAUSE God commands us to reach out 'Go out into the roads and lanes,
and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled.’” (Luke 14:23)
“..
 ...you will be my witnesses...” Acts 1:8
 BECAUSE Growth is God’s will “...Christ gives the body its strength, and he
uses its joints and muscles to hold it together, as it grows by the power of God.”
(Col. 2:19) Jesus said to Peter, “I will build my church...” (Matt. 16:18)
 We believe our church must grow smaller and larger at the same time (break
the large church down into smaller groups through the life groups). “And this
good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world, as a
testimony to all the nations; and THEN the end will come.” (Matt. 24:14)

The Holy Spirit within us (fruit of the spirit) is for building the character of the
believer
 Galatians 5:22-23
LOVE

KINDNESS
 Associated with benevolence, compassion, mercy and godliness.
 This fruit of the spirit consists of treating others as we would like to be treated by them.
 Luke 6:27-31 - shows us manifestations of the fruit of kindness: love our enemies, do
good to those who despise us, bless those who curse us, pray for those who slander,
be willing to be tolerant (offer the other cheek), and give to them what they want to
take from us.

GOODNESS
 Although there is a relationship between goodness and kindness, the first makes
reference to the way in which we should live because it gives testimony of the
existence of God.
 Mark 10:17-18 -No one is good but God; therefore without God it’s impossible to be a
“good person” but with Him we can exhibit His goodness toward others.

The Holy Spirit Upon Us: The Gifts of the Spirit

Gifts of the Spirit have been given by God to be administered in the church to glorify
Jesus and edify the church body (1 Corinthians 12:7-10).
Gifts Of Utterance/Inspiration—Gifts That “Say” Something
The Gift of Prophecy
 PROPHECY is a supernatural utterance in a known tongue
 1 Corinthians 14:3- Prophecy is for edification, exhortation and comfort


Hebrews 1:1-3 -Jesus came as the fulfillment of the prophetic word.
2 Peter 1:16-21 -The prophetic word is sure, we should pay attention to it, it is a lamp
in the darkness, it is not for private interpretation, it does not come through human will,
prophets were inspired by the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 14:1—declares that it should be one of the most desirable gifts.
Tongues
 Divers kinds of tongues is supernatural utterance by the Holy Spirit in languages never
learned by the speaker, not understood by the mind of the speaker, nor necessarily
always understood by the hearer.
 Acts 1:8, 2:1-13 -The day of Pentecost- 120 were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke
in other tongues
 Mark 16:15-18 -We speak in tongues because Jesus said this is a sign which will
follow believers.
 There is a devotional speaking in tongues and a public ministry gift of tongues:
 Public: 1 Corinthians 14:27-28
 Devotional: 1 Corinthians 14:18 -Paul gave the purpose of speaking in tongues
and what it would do for them in their prayer life and in praise and worship to Him.
Interpretation of Tongues
 The interpretation of tongues is the supernatural showing forth by the spirit the
meaning of an utterance in other tongues.
 The Gift of tongues together with the gift of interpretation of tongues equals prophecy.
 1 Corinthians 14:27-28 -Paul brought clarity to bring order to the church.
 1 Corinthians 14:5 -It is for the edification of the church.
 1 Corinthians 14:13 -You should pray for the interpretation

FAITH, THE WORD, AND TITHING
FAITH: How to Get It, What It Is
 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real
even if we do not see it. (Hebrews 11:1)
 Faith is a practical expression of the confidence we have in God and His Word
(Hebrews 11:1-9).
 Confidence is defined as full trust; belief in the ability of a person or a thing
 Confidence is a level of commitment that must be demonstrated
 Our confidence is the key element in our walk of faith
 God is not a respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of faith.
How to Get Faith
 Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Therefore, faith and the Word
are one. (Romans 10:17)
 We must believe and act on God's Word
 Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and
glorious compensation of reward” (Hebrews 10:35, AMP).
 When we stop having confidence in the Word, we stop the manifestation we desire
from it.
 Our confidence is developed over a period of time.
 Our commitment to our confidence also requires development.
 Satan attacks our confidence because he doesn’t want us to believe that the Word
works.
 Many times, when trouble comes our way, it is Satan’s attack on our confidence.
 Therefore, we need have steadfast patience and endurance to continue in our
confidence (Hebrews 10:36, AMP).
 True biblical patience is being consistently the same concerning our stance on the
Word, no matter what is happening.

OUR STRATEGY
What is Vision?



Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) - Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that
keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18 (MSG) - If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over
themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.
It is God’s idea revealed to man’s mind for him to execute it.
 Vision means having a clear idea of what God wants you to do and what He
expects you to be.
 It is through faith that we enter into the spiritual realm and receive the creative idea
of the vision, and bring it into the natural realm with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Characteristics for a God-given vision




It’s the motivation force of outstanding leaders—a real leader does not stop until he
finds out the purpose of God for his life and uses all of his abilities in order to fulfill it.
It is power that gives life—(Proverbs 29:18)
It can be reproduced by a successful leader.
The vision the Lord had was to redeem mankind from an assured condemnation.
Jesus had the vision of saving us by paying a high price by shedding His blood and
dying on the cross of Calvary. Our task is to adopt this vision and reproduce it in
others (Habakkuk 2:2-3)
Our Vision & Its Process


A Specified Vision for CCC: “To build the church, make disciples that influence
California and the world.”
The process to fulfill the vision: Now that we have a God-given vision, we need the
necessary tools or process to bring the vision to pass. The process we use at CCC is
the Ladder of Success. It comprises of the four following steps:
1. Win
2. Consolidate
3. Disciple
4. Send

KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
POWER OF 12
The Ladder of Success Process:
WIN: EVANGELISM/SOUL WINNING
 Winning the lost for Christ is a command made by Jesus in the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:18-19, Proverbs 24:11-13).
 Winning souls is like an art that combines Gods timing, the divine anointing and
sensitivity to the Holy Spirit (Proverbs 11:30b).
 The best way to learn how to soul win is to:
 Learn from others --Go to the Witnessing Institute
 Read books (Pastor’s book series called Winning the Lost at all Cost)
 Learn from the scriptures (2 Timothy 2:15)
 Practice with your life group leader
CONSOLIDATE: ASSIMILATE THEM INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD & THE CHURCH
 Consolidation is the care offered to the new convert and constitutes an effective
process to form disciples, just as the Great Commission commands (Matthew 28:1820, John 15: 16-17).
 It demands dedication, commitment, and effort through mentorship/discipleship in
order to see the new believers grow strong in their faith (Galatians 4:19).
 At CCC we consolidate new believers by connecting them to a life group to establish
relationships with other godly people and by directing them to the Kingdom Building
Classes to build a foundation for their spiritual growth
DISCIPLE: MENTORSHIP
 Discipleship is the development of the vision, by making a leader out of every believer
by reproducing the character of Christ yourself and others.
 Disciples are mentored directly in the Power of 12 Life groups according to Matthew
28:20 “…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Disciples
continue through the process to serve in the ministry and to develop their wisdom in
the Word of God.
SEND: DISCIPLES ARE SENT OUT TO CONTINUE THE PROCESS OF THE LADDER
OF SUCCESS
 Every person who has received theological and doctrinal training through the Kingdom
Building Classes has captured the character of Christ during the stages of
discipleship. Now they are ready to reproduce Jesus in others and thus fulfilling an
evangelistic mission (Matthew 9:38)
 The trained believer understands that he has to put his God- given talents to work
since now they have been perfected during the discipleship sessions. (Acts 6:3)
Building a Community
35 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES

Disciples are now winning souls, consolidating, and mentoring others in their Power of
12 Life groups. Like in Matthew 9:35 “Jesus went through all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing
every disease and sickness”, disciples have followed Christ’s example.
What are Life groups?
 Life groups are small groups of people who meet at least once a month, at location
outside of the church.
 The purpose of the life group is to develop godly relationships, edify the spiritual
growth of the new believer and cast a net for new souls to be won into the kingdom of
God. (Acts 6:7, Acts 20:21)
Life groups are comprised of:
1. The Host—person who provides the location
2. The Leader—person trained to lead the cell
3. The Timothy—the person who is the right hand of the leader
4. The Participants-every active member and any person invited to the meeting.
Biblical records of life groups
 Matthews 9:10 Jesus continually ministered in houses
 Matthew 9:23-24 Jesus performed healings in houses
 Mark 9:33-35 Jesus used houses to train his 12
 Matthew 26:17-18 the Lords supper was for the first time in a house
 Acts 2:2-4 The Holy Spirit was first poured out in a house
 Acts 2:42 The Church was founded in the homes.
The Importance of the Life Group Vision
 The success of a church is in its life groups.
 Life groups allow you to mentor one-on-one.
 Jesus cared about reaching everyone’s need, so He developed His ministry by being
in touch with people, without being limited by a place (Mark 6:34).
 Pastoral work is developed in an easier way when the whole workload does not lie
upon only the Pastor.
 Life groups are small groups that strengthen the church. The evangelistic work is
carried out within the life groups since new people are invited to every meeting and
can be won for Christ. Also the new believer is edified through the teaching in order to
become useful instruments when the life group multiplies.
 Life groups are a way to supply everyone’s need. Not only spiritual needs are met but
emotional and sometimes material needs are met. They are designed to meet the
needs of its partners in the same way as it used to be in Acts 2:44-47.


Life groups are a source of training for the twelve. The Power of 12 Leaders will
gather 12 disciples from their life groups to develop for leadership. Within the life
group, you will be able to see who is most successful in bearing fruit. (Luke 6:12-17).
REASONS FOR OUR STRATEGY
 Everything we do ties back to our vision statement, our strategy is structured the way
it is “To build the church, make disciples that influence California and the world.”
 “Healthy people don’t need a doctor...I didn’t come to invite good people to be my
followers.” (Matt. 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:31 CEV).
 Like the sun and the rain, faith is a gift God that God offers to everyone.
 “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be
children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the
good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:44-46).
 Jesus explained the importance of Christians being more in touch with their friends
and neighbors than the average unbeliever is with their neighbors.
 “...the children of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than
are the children of light.” (Luke 16:8)
 "...so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” (Matt.10:16)
COVENANTS CCC
 The Membership Covenant: is a commitment to great commandment and the great
commission (Eph. 2:19) (Rom. 12:4-5)
 The Maturity Covenant: is a commitment to the habits necessary for spiritual growth.
(2 Peter 3:18) (1 Tim. 4:8)
 The Ministry Covenant: is a commitment to discovering and using my God given
gifts and abilities in serving God and others. (1 Peter 4:10) (1 Cor. 12:5,27)
 The Missions Covenant: is a commitment to spreading the Good News with others.
(Acts 1:8) (1 Peter 3:15)
What Does It Mean To Be A Partner?
 The difference between “regular attendees” and “partners” can be summed up in
one word: Commitment
 Biblical: Christ is committed to the church.
 “...just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.” Eph. 5:25
 Cultural: It is an antidote to our society’s lack of commitment.
 We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything... a job... a
marriage... our country. This attitude has even produced a generation of “church
shoppers and hoppers”
 Partnership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion.” It is an
unselfish decision.


Commitment always builds character.
Practical: It defines who can become a partner
Every team must have a roster. Every school must have an enrollment. Every
business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our country takes a
census and requires voter registration. Partnership identifies our family.
Personal: It produces spiritual fruit
The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be
accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when
you’re not committed to any specific church family.
What is expected of me as a partner? We expect our partners to do what the
Bible expects every Christian to do. These responsibilities are spelled out in the
Partnership Covenant
Partnership Covenant for Calvary Christian Center
 Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and been baptized, and being in
agreement with CCC’s statements, strategy and structure, I now feel led by the Holy
Spirit to unite with the CCC church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to
the other partners to do the following:
 I will protect the unity of my church.
 By acting in love toward other partners
 By refusing to gossip
 By following the leaders
 I will share the responsibility of my church:
o By praying for its growth
o By inviting the unchurched to attend
o By warmly welcoming those who visit (I Thes. 1:2) (Luke 14:23) (Rom. 15:7)
o I will serve in the ministry of my church.
o By discovering my gifts and talents
o By being equipped to serve my pastors
o By developing a servant’s heart (1 Pet. 4:10) (Eph. 4:11-12) (Phil. 2:3-4, 7)
o I will support the testimony of my church.
o By attending faithfully
o By living a godly life
o By giving regularly (Heb. 10:25)(Phil. 1:27)(1 Cor. 16:2)(Lev. 27:30)
o "(God) has given... pastors and teachers to prepare God's people for works of
ministry, so the body of Christ may be built up. " Eph. 4:11-12

Conclusion: Calvary Christian Center is a non-denominational church founded on
the Word of God. According to 2 Tim. 3:16 (Message), we know all scripture is
God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our
rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word,
we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

CLASS 301: MATURITY (SPIRITUAL MATURITY)
PHASE II
CLASS 301 – WEEK 1
Spiritual Growth and Maturity for Children of the Kingdom
(Kingdom Building Classes are comprehensive so each one prior is part of the foundation
for the next.)
Course objective: That I will commit to the habits necessary for spiritual maturity. "In the
past you voluntarily gave your bodies to the service of vice and ... the purposes of evil. So
now give yourselves to the service of righteousness - for the purpose of becoming truly
good." Romans 6:19
What is Spiritual Maturity?
 Ephesians 4:13
 “...In the unity of common faith, and knowledge of the Son of God, we arrive at
real maturity - the measure of development which is meant by ‘the fullness of
Christ.’”
 Spiritual Maturity is becoming more like Jesus Christ
.
 “For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him ... should
become like his Son.…” Romans 8:29
Purpose of this class:
Four Basic Habits - that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God's will for
you.” (Colossians. 4:12b), “We are not meant to remain as children ... but to grow up in
every way into Christ…” (Ephesians 4:14-15)
Different Ways the Spirit Grows Spiritual Maturity in Us:
It’s not automatic
 Hebrews 5:12-13 - "You have been Christians for a long time now, and you ought to be
teaching others, but instead ... you need someone to teach you
 When a person is still living on milk, it shows he isn't very far along in the Christian life ...
He's still a baby Christian!"

It is a process
 Learn to be mature." (Proverbs 8:5)
 Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter
3:18)
It Takes Discipline
 Take the time and the trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit." (I Timothy. 4:7b).
 "Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness." (I Timothy 4:7b)
Understanding Discipleship
 Mature believers are called DISCIPLES
 I cannot be a disciple without being DISCIPLINED
 The more disciplined I become THE MORE I BECOME LIKE JESUS CHRIST
 The mark of a disciple is DISCIPLE HABITS (Luke 14:27)
 How often am I to do this? DAILY (Luke 9:23)
 What is involved in "cross bearing"? WHATEVER IT TAKES to give Christ first place
in my life!
Four Non-Negotiable Habits of a Disciple:
 Develop DISCIPLE HABITS. You have put off the old self with its HABITS, and
have put on the new self, which God is continually renewing in His own image, to
bring you to a full knowledge of Himself." (Colossians 3:9-10)
1. Time with God’s Word
 "If you continue in my Word, then you are my disciples indeed. And you will
know the truth and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32)
2. Prayer
 "If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, then you will ask for
anything you wish, and you shall have it ... in this way you become my
disciples." (John 15:7-8)
3. Tithing
 "None of you can be my disciple unless he gives up all of his possessions."
(Luke 14:33)
 "The purpose of tithing is to teach you to always put God first in your lives."
(Deut. 14:23)
Building a Community
45 | P a g e

4. Fellowship
 "Love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each
other will prove to the world that you are my disciples." (John 13:34-35)
TIME WITH GOD’S WORD
 Understanding the significance of 2 Timothy 3:16-17 will teach you how to get a
grasp on your Bible.
 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may
be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
How We Learn
 Learners retain:
 20% of what they hear
 20% of what they read
 30% of what they see
 50% of what they see and hear
 90% of what they see, hear, and do.
 Jesus knew the importance of his followers’ hearing, seeing, and doing His teachings.
“Why,” he asked, “do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46)
How to Hear God’s Word
 "Faith comes from hearing the Word of God." Romans 10:17 (it also comes via
Word-centered CD’s, Studying, Sermons, Radio/TV)
 “We must pay more careful attention to what we've heard, so that we do not drift
away!” (Hebrews 2:1)
 “Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says!"
(James 1:22)
 “Whoever... does not simply listen and then forget, but puts it into practice - that
person will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:25)
How to Read God’s Word
 "Happy is the one who reads this book ... and obeys what is written in it!" (Revelation
1:3)
Study God’s Word
 "... they accepted the message eagerly and studied the Scriptures everyday ..."
(Acts 17:11)
 "Be a good workman ... Know what His Word says and means." (2 Timothy 2:15)
 The difference between reading and studying the Bible is that you take notes when you
study.


The secret of effective Bible study is knowing how to ask the right
QUESTIONS
Memorize God’s Word
 "Guard my words as your most precious possession. Write them down, and also keep
them deep within your heart." (Proverbs. 7:2-3)
 MEMORIZING helps me resist temptation. "I have hidden your Word in my heart that
I might not sin against you." (Psalm 119:11)
 MEMORIZING helps me make wise decisions. "Your Word is a lamp to guide me and
a light for my path. (Ps. 119:105)
 MEMORIZING strengthens me when I'm under stress."... Your promises to me are
my hope. They give me strength in all my troubles; how they refresh and revive me!"
(Psalm 119:49)
 MEMORIZING comforts me when I'm sad. "Your words are what sustain me. They
bring joy to my sorrowing heart and delight me." (Jeremiah 15:16)
 MEMORIZING helps me witness to unbelievers. "Always be prepared to give an
answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have with
meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15). “Your teachings are worth more to me than
thousands of pieces of gold and silver.” (Psalm 119:72)
MEDITATE on God’s Word
 "(Those) who are always meditating on His Laws ... are like trees along a river bank
bearing fruit ... they never wither and whatever they do prospers." (Psalm 1:2-3)
 Meditation is focused thinking about a Bible verse in order to discover how I can
apply its truth to my own life.
Why should I meditate on scripture?
 “ ... Your life is shaped by your thoughts." (Proverbs 4:23)
 “ ... Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2
 “As we ... contemplate the Lord's glory, we are being transformed into His likeness
…” (1 Corinthians 3:18)
 “If you live your life in Me, and my words live in your hearts, you can ask for
whatever you like, and it will come true for you.” (John 15:7)
 “ ... Meditate on (the Word) day and night, so you may be careful to do everything
written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8)

Six ways to meditate on a verse:
1. Picture it! Visualize the scene in your mind.
2. Pronounce it! Say the verse aloud, each time emphasizing a different word.
3. Paraphrase it! Rewrite the verse in your own words.
Building a Community
47 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES
4. Personalize it! Replace the pronouns or people in the verse with your own name
5. Pray it! Turn the verse into a prayer and say it back to God.
APPLYING God’s Word TO LIFE TODAY
 "Do not fool yourselves by just listening to the Word. Instead, put it into practice."
(James 1:22)
 "Whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom
of heaven." (Matt. 5:19)
 1st ask: What did it mean to the original hearers?
 2nd ask: What is the underlying timeless principle?
 3rd ask: Where or how could I practice that principle?
 “Now that you know these things—do them! That is the path of blessing! (John
13:17)
THE HABIT OF PRAYER
Disciples Have a Habit of a Daily Time with God
 "The one who looks steadily at God's perfect law ... and makes that law his HABIT not listening and then forgetting, but actively putting it into practice will be happy in all
that he does." (James 1:25)
 Definition: “A quiet time is a daily time I set aside to be alone with God to get to know
Him through the Bible and prayer.”
Reasons We Need a Daily Quiet Time:
 Your time alone with God should be the top priority in your schedule for five reasons:
1. We were BORN AGAIN to have fellowship with God.
 "So God created man in his own image." (Gen. 1:27, 2:7, 3:8) "Look! I've been
standing at the door and constantly knocking. If anyone ... opens the door, I will
come in and fellowship with him and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
2. Jesus DIED to make a relationship to God possible.
 "God ... has invited you into this wonderful friendship with his Son, Christ our
Lord." 1 Cor. 1:9
3. Personal time alone with God was Jesus’ SOURCE OF STRENGTH
 Mark 1:35, Luke 22:39, Luke 5:16 "Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and
prayed."
4. Every person who has been effective in MINISTRY for God developed this
habit.

“... I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” (Job
23:12)
“How can a young man cleanse his way? By keeping to your Word.” (Psalm
119:9)
5. The Purpose of a Daily Quiet Time
 "Give to the Lord the glory due to his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of
his holiness." (Psalm 29:2)
 "(Hezekiah) was successful, because everything he did ... he did in a spirit of
complete devotion to his God." (II Chronicles 31:2)
 "Show me the path where I should go, O Lord; point out the right road for me to
walk. Lead me ..." (Psalm 25:4)
Two Things to do in A Quiet Time
1. Consider your ways: "Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be
established." (Proverbs 4:26 KJV)
 "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:6
KJV)
2. Commit your day: "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do
it and he will." (Psalm 37:5)
 “Delight yourself in the Lord; and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
(Psalm 37:4 KJV)
 “ ... (God's) presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure.” (Psalm 16:11)
 “Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live
and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. With these gifts
you can share in being like God” (II Peter 1:4)
 "When the council saw the boldness of Peter and John ... they were amazed and
realized what being with Jesus had done for them!" (Acts 4:13)
How to Begin a Daily Quiet Time
1. Select a specific time.
a. The best time to have a quiet time is when I am AT MY BEST!

2. Choose a special place.
a. “Jesus left the city and went, as he usually did, to the Mount of Olives ... to
pray." (Luke 22:39)
b. “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house
and went to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (Mark 1:35)
3. Gather the resources you’ll need.
a. A Bible - with readable print.
b. A Notebook - to write down what the Lord speaks to you about, and to keep
your prayer list.
c. A Songbook - if you want to sing.
4. Begin with the right attitude:
a. “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
b. "Open my eyes to see wonderful things in your Word." (Psalm 119:18)
c. “The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants”
(Matthew 6:33)
5. Follow a simple plan
 A Prayer of Commitment
 "Father, I realize that I was created to have fellowship with you. Thank you for
making this privilege possible through Jesus' death. I know that daily
fellowship with You is to be the most important thing in my life. I now want to
commit myself to spending at least some time every day with you in a quiet
time of Bible reading and prayer. I'm trusting in your strength to help me be
consistent. In Jesus' name, Amen."


The Habit of Prayer—Talking With God
 "Base your happiness on your hope in Christ. When trials come, endure them
patiently; steadfastly maintain THE HABIT OF PRAYER." (Romans 12:12)
Approach prayer with the right attitude (Matthew 6:5-8)
 "When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the
synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men." (verse 5)
 "But when you pray go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who
is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
(verse 6)
 "Don't recite the same prayer over and over as the heathen do, who think prayers
are answered only be repeating them again and again. Remember, you Father
knows exactly what you need before you ask Him!” (verse 7-8)

Use the Model Jesus Gave Us
 "This, then, is HOW you should pray ..." (Matthew 6:9-15 )
The six parts of prayer:
1. Praise:
 "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name..."
 "Adoration"— Praising God for who he is.
 "Thanksgiving"— Praising God for what he has done.
 "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise.
 Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalm 100:4)
2. Purpose: I commit myself to God’s purpose and will for my life
 "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven ..."
 Pray for God's will to be done... in my family... my church ... my ministry... my job... my
future... my city... the nation... the world.
 "Offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his Service and pleasing
to him. This is the true worship that you should offer." (Romans 12:2)
3. Provision: I ask God to PROVIDE FOR MY NEEDS IN LIFE AND MORE – TO
SHARE!
 "Give us today our daily bread ..."
 "God will supply all your needs from his riches in glory because of what Christ
Jesus has done for us." (Phil. 4:19)
 "Since God did not spare even his own Son for us but gave him up for us, won't he
also surely give us everything else?" (Romans 8:32)
 "You do not have ... because you don't ask God!" (James 4:2)
 "Don't worry about anything, but in everything, by pray and petition with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Phil. 4:6)
4. Pardon: I ask God to FORGIVE MY SINS
 "Forgive us our debts ..."
5. People: I Pray For: OTHER PEOPLE WHO SIN AGAINST ME
 "... as we have also forgive our debtors."
 "Pray much for others; plead for God's mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is
going to do for them. (I Timothy 2:1)
6. Protection; I ask for PROTECTION
 "And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one." (vs. 13)
 "The Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit who is in those who
belong to the world." (I John 4:4)

CLASS 301 – WEEK 2
THE HABIT OF TITHING
Honoring God with my Giving
 "On the first day of each week, set aside some of what you have earned and give it
as an offering. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn." (I
Corinthians 16:2)
My Giving Reveals My Spiritual Maturity
 "Just as you excel in everything else... in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete
earnestness... see that you also excel in the grace of giving.” (II Corinthians. 8:7)
Why God Wants Me to Give
1.
Giving makes me MORE LIKE GOD – THE GIVER OF ALL LIFE
 God so loved the world that He gave his only Son." (John 3:16)
2.
Giving draws me CLOSER TO GOD
 "Where your treasure is, there your heart is also." (Matt.6:21)

3.
Giving is the antidote to MATERIALISM
 "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put
hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly
provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to be generous
and willing to share. In this way they may take hold of the life that is truly Life!"
(I Timothy 6:17-19)
4. Giving strengthens FAITH
 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of your income, and he will fill your
barns to overflowing." (Proverbs 3:5,9)
 "Give and it will be given to you ... For with the measure you use, it will be
measured back to you." (Luke 6:38)
5. Giving is an investment INETERNITY!
 " ... Give happily to those in need, and always be ready to share whatever God
has given you. By doing this, you will be storing up real treasure for yourselves in
heaven - it is the only safe investment for eternity. (I Tim 6:18-19)
6. Giving blesses me
IN RETURN
 "A generous man himself will be blessed." (Proverbs 22:9)
 "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
(Proverbs 11:25)
 "Good will come to him who is generous ..." (Psalm 112:5)
7. Giving FORMS A HEART OF JOY / HAPPINESS
 (Jesus) "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.” (Acts 20:35)
What is the difference between Tithing and Offering?
1. What is tithing? "Tithe" means "a
10TH part"
2. What is the difference between a “Tithe” and an “Offering”?
 A “tithe” is giving 10% of my income.
 An “offering” is anything I give MORE THAN my tithe.
Why Should I Tithe?
9 Reasons from God’s Word:
1. Because God COMMANDS IT
 “A tenth of all you produce is the Lord's, and it is holy." (Leviticus 27:30)
Building a Community

2. Because Jesus COMMENDED IT
 "Yes, you should tithe, and you shouldn't leave the more important things undone
either." (Matt. 23:23)
3. Tithing demonstrates that God has FIRST PLACE IN MY LIFE
 "The purpose of tithing is to teach you to always put God in first place in your life."
(Deut. 14:23 LB)
4. Tithing reminds me that EVERYTHING I HAVE was given to me by God!
 "Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the ability to produce
wealth." (Deut. 8:18)
5. Tithing expresses my GRATITUDE
 "How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me?" (Ps. 116:12)
 "Each of you should bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has
blessed you." (Deuteronomy 16:17)
6. God says that refusing to tithe is STEALING from Him!
 "God says 'Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!' But you ask, 'How do we rob
you?' God says 'In tithes and offerings ... Bring your whole tithe to My house.'"
(Malachi 3:8-10)
7. Tithing gives God a chance to prove GOD EXISTS and wants to bless you!
 "Bring your whole tithe to My storehouse. Test me in this" says the Lord, "and see if I
will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you
won't have room enough for it! I will prevent pests from devouring your crops and the
vines in your fields will be protected from plagues." (Malachi 3:10)
8. Tithing proves that I LOVE GOD MORE THAN I LOVE WHAT GOD CREATED
 (Jesus) "If you really love me, do what I command." (John 14:15)
 "... I want you to be leaders also in the spirit of cheerful giving ... This is one way to
prove that your love is real, that it goes beyond mere words." (II Corinthians 8:7b - 8)
9. Tithing gives me a reason to EXPECT from God.
 “But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the
other things will be yours as well.” (Matt. 6:33)
What Should I Tithe?

(II Corinthians 9:12)

 “... for God loves a cheerful giver!” (II Corinthians 9:7)
 "They gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on
their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service ..." (II

 "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and whoever sows
generously will reap generously." (II Corinthians 9:6)
The Key to Giving
 " ...They first gave themselves to the Lord…” (II Corinthians 8:5)
A Commitment Prayer
"Father, I know you love me and want what's best for me. I recognize that all I have, or will
ever have, comes from you. I am more interested in pleasing you than in having more
possessions. I want you to have first place in my life and I am willing to begin tithing as you
have commanded. Out of gratitude for all you've done for me, and in expectation that you will
continue to provide for me, I commit myself to returning at least the first 10% of all I earn back
to you. I want to begin investing for eternity. Help me to remain faithful to this commitment. In
Jesus' name, Amen."
The Habit of Fellowship —

"Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us
encourage each other." (Hebrews 10:25)

Why is Fellowship so Important?
I BELONG in God’s family with other believers.
 "Let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of
believers." (Galatians 6:10)
 "You are a member of God's very own family ... and you belong in God's household
with every other Christian." (Eph. 2:19)
 "So in Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the
others!" (Romans 12:5)
 "The Christian who is not committed to a group of other believers for praying, sharing,
and serving, so that he is known, as he knows others, is not an obedient Christian. He is
not in the will of God. However vocal he may be in his theology, he is not obeying the
Lord."
—Dr. Ray Ortland
I need ENCOURAGMENT to grow spiritually.
 "Let us think of one another and how we can encourage each other to love and do good
deeds." (Hebrews 10:24)
 "Two are better off than one ... If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But
if someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is no one to help him ...
Two men can resist an attack that would defeat one man alone. A rope made of three
cords is hard to break." (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12)
I need ACCOUNTABILITY to grow spiritually.
 "People learn from one another just as iron sharpens iron." (Proverbs 27:17)
 "Every day ... keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardened by the
glamour of sin." (Hebrews 3:13)
 "Brothers, if someone is trapped in some sin, you who are spiritual should restore him
gently ... Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
(Galatians 6:1-2)
Christ is PRESENT when we fellowship together.
 "For wherever two or three have come together in my name, I am there, right among
them!" (Matt 18:20)
There is GREAT POWER when people pray together.
 "Whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you
by my Father in heaven." (Matt. 18:19 GN)
Fellowship is a WITNESS OF GOD’S PRESENCE AMONG US to the world.
 (Jesus) "My prayer for all of them is that they will be of one heart and mind .. so the
world will believe you sent me." (John 17:21)

 Announce your intentions publicly.
 "Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them."

PHASE III
CLASS 401: MINISTRY (SERVANT/MINISTER)
CLASS 401 – WEEK 1
Course Objective: Encourage the student to make a lifetime commitment to being a
messenger of the gospel to other people, using their time, talents, and treasures for God’s
kingdom regardless of where it leads or what it costs. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:9 “We
make it our goal to please Him.” What is our goal? It is to measure up to God’s plan for our
lives.
THE PURPOSE OF MINISTRY






"And
he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ: Ephesians 4:11-12
Salvation in Jesus Christ automatically includes a call to ministry. Every believer is
created, saved, called, gifted, authorized, and commanded to minister.
God intends for ministry to be performed through the context of the local church.
Partnership includes a commitment to ministry.
The Holy Spirit has provided our church body with all the spiritually gifted people needed to
do everything He wants done. Our task is to discover, enlist, train, and support these
people in ministry.
Partnership and maturity are prerequisites to ministry. Therefore, we require class
attendance and commitment to these two areas before serving through Calvary Christian
Center’s Ministry of Helps.
God has given all His children gifts that can be developed and used in ministry.
Discovering Your Primary Ministry and Your Secondary Ministry





Desire to spend your time in the ministry that best expresses who you are.
There are also secondary ministries where you may not be as strongly gifted in as your
primary ministry, but you have a servant's heart and are willing to help.
"There are different kinds of service to God, but it is the same Lord, we are serving.
The Holy Spirit displays God's power through us as a means of helping the entire church.
Collectively, we are one body of Christ and each one of you is a separate and necessary

THE FOCUS
 The main focus of this class is on an Individual approach to ministry to utilize the gifts God
has given you individually for the ministry rather than an Institutional approach.
THE GOALS
 You will discover your unique design (S.H.A.P.E.) for ministry and commit to developing
and using your God-given gifts and abilities in serving God and others through your church
family.
 You will select and begin serving in the ministry of CCC that best expresses what God
made you to be.
 You will discover your S.H.A.P.E. for the ministry.
 Spiritual Gifts
 Heart
 Abilities
 Personality
 Experience
 "Now about spiritual gifts I do not want you to be ignorant." 1 Corinthians 12:1

MINISTRY OF HELPS


What is the Ministry of Helps? 1 Corinthians 12:18 (AMP) But as it is, God has placed and
arranged the limbs and organs in the body, each (particular one) of them, just as He wished
and saw fit and with the best adaptation.
1Cor 12:27-28
Ministry of Helps Mission Statement





Every department/ministry should have a mission statement. The mission statement for
CCC’s Ministry of Helps can be found in 1 Chronicles 22:15-16 - 15 Moreover there are
workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner
of cunning men for every manner of work. 16 Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the
iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.

H.E.L.P.S. is a supernatural gift from god
It is a supernatural ministry, listed among things such as miracles and healings.
It is a "gift" God has set in the Church like a concrete pillar to hold things up.

THE PURPOSE OF MINISTRY OF HELPS







Ephesians 4:11-12 Pastor is here to perfect, complete, equip, furnish, and train us for work
in the ministry. His priority is prayer and ministering the Word - nothing else!
Have you ever wondered why God set apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and
teachers in the Church? Paul made it clear in his letter to the church at Ephesus that the
ministry gifts were put in the Body of Christ for one main purpose: to perfect (or mature) the
saints.
People who are maturing, growing up in Christ, will exhibit two qualities:
1. They will build up and add to the welfare of God's family, the Church.
2. They will learn to minister- to help or serve- others.
You can tell mature Christians in every situation by those who help the pastor, not hinder
him.
The definition of helps literally is one who gives assistance." WHO DO WE HELP?
Exodus 17:8-13 You may be wondering, "If I am in the Helps Ministry, who do I help? You
can help the one God has set in each church to oversee it. Your job is to help your pastor
run the church. Helps ministries act like fingers on a hand in assisting pastors.
Ephesians 4:11-12; Acts 6:4; Jeremiah 3:15
WHY GOD GAVE PASTORS


His priority is prayer and ministering the Word
He is to feed us knowledge to live victorious lives and prosper in every area: spiritually,
physically, financially, mentally, and socially. Our involvement makes Pastor effective.
RECEIVE AND ACCEPT THE GIFT






Ephesians 4:8-11 -Christ gave the gift of pastor unto men.
A gift is not yours until you accept it or receive it.
You should know your pastor by spending time around him, listening to CDs, reading his
books, etc.
1Thessalonians 5:12, 13
Follow or imitate him in word or deed.
Hebrews 6:12
PERCEPTION OF THE GI FT

The way you view someone will determine your ability to receive from him or her.
Ultimately, what will determine our effectiveness or greatness as a "corporate body", is our
ability to perceive and recognize our pastor as "A Holy Man Of God". He is the head or
mouthpiece of God for our local church body.

HONORING THE MAN OF GOD


Honor means a showing of usually merited respect or recognition. 1 Samuel 9:6-8
We show honor by giving of our time, talent and treasury. 1 Corinthians 9:13 14
VISION










Proverbs 29:18
Habakkuk 2:2, 3
1Corinthians 1:9-10
Philippians 2:2 5
Psalm 105:15
Proverbs 17:14, Colossians 3:5-9
Vision will give purpose, hope and motivation. It will guide, lead, protect, and provide for
you and yours. In the vision there is provision for salvation, healing, deliverance,
restoration, friends, family, finances, jobs, careers, education, spouses, houses, and
whatever else you need.
Protect and feed the vision and it will do the same for you.
The vision for CCC has been written. We are to run with it and help bring it to pass. The
vision for CCC should "speak" or be attractive. It should compel us.
God wants us in fellowship. God wants us to speak the same thing with no division. God
wants us joined together -the same. Vision brings unity.
THINGS THAT HINDER THE VISION





Never speak negatively about your brothers and sisters in Christ. Especially not any
pastors or ministers.
It is hard to stop a quarrel once it starts; so don't let it begin in the first place.
Avoid anything to do with sexual sin.
Don't love anything more than God.
Stay away from telling and listening to dirty jokes, making fun of others, lying, exaggerating
or manipulating other people.
FAITHFULNESS



Luke 16:10·12 - Faithfulness means to be steadfast dependable, reliable, consistent and
loyal.
To be loyal means changing your plans to be faithful to the plans of the one to whom you
are committed. You will never obtain anything of real value without faithfulness.
God often gives us a little to see what we would do with a lot

No matter how smart, talented or anointed you are, if you don't show up for your
assignment, you aren't any good to anyone!
80% of your success is simply showing up when you are expected to.
PUNCTUALITY



Punctuality means prompt, precise, on schedule.
Don't plan to arrive on time, plan to arrive early!
Allow yourself extra time, and prepare in advance for activities. If you are not able to show
up for your assignment please be mindful and considerate to notify your leader ahead of
time.
BALANCE





Luke 10:38-42 - Balance means proper distribution of time and energy.
It is crucial for every believer to keep Christ first in every area of his or her life.
Before church, before your job, before your spouse or children, we must have personal
time with Jesus. We are not to neglect our home or family life because of church activities.
However, we are to be absolutely committed to regular church attendance for our families
and ourselves. Learn to use wisdom in prioritizing time and activities.
1 Corinthians 14:40 – do things decently and in order
ACCOUNTABI LITY-PROPER WAY TO CHANGE MINISTRIES


If you find yourself in the wrong department or ministry within the church, let the department
head know, prior to leaving that department or ministry.
If you decide to attend another church, prior to leaving CCC, speak with Pastor to let him
know and allow him to properly release you.
FINDING YOUR PLACE IN THE MINISTRY OF H. E. L.P. S.





1Corinthians12:1 and God gave Paul the Apostle an awesome revelation of the similarities
of our "human" body and the body of Christ, which is the church.
God will bring or draw, supernaturally new members to physically strengthen, complete,
and make more efficient the local church or body of Christ
Often times the place for us to begin to serve in the local church is where there is a need,
so that we may strengthen this area.
By you filling a need, you are planting a seed!"
Do you see a part of the body that needs assistance or a place you may be able to make a
difference? This may be the Spirit of God showing where He would like you to assist or



Proverbs 12:15

There is safety in the counsel of the Godly.
WATCH AND OBSERVE

You may have talents or abilities to offer the local church. Look for where you may be able
use them. Often the area we are called to, we will constantly observe and criticize. (i.e.
music, sound, customer service, etc.)
GET STARTED


Generally the longer you wait to begin, the harder it becomes to get started.
You are eligible to begin serving in the ministry as soon as you complete the Kingdom




Psalm 1:3 When you are in the place God has called you to you will begin to bear fruit, or

Remember, if you remain rootless, you will remain fruitless.
PRAYER IN THE MINSTRY OF HELPS




James 5:16 - It is absolutely critical that you are "prayed up" before coming to church or
beginning to serve.
Pray that the fruit of the spirit is in operation in your life (Galatians 5:22).
If you are not prepared spiritually prior to your assignment, the enemy will attempt to
frustrate or discourage you before you can even begin.
Your ability or commitment to prayer will determine your effectiveness in ministry or any
other area for your life.

KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER WHILE SERVING IN THE MINISTRY OF H.E.LP.S.

Understand the church is not perfect so allow room for errors with yourself as well as
others. This includes Pastor Goudeaux.

Pray. Respect everyone. Don't be a busybody. Don't share in gossiping or spreading
rumors.

Don't ever be too big to do the small things. Help to fulfill each other's ministry. Every
ministry is equally valuable and important

Don't plan to arrive on time, plan to arrive early. Be dependable. Be the best follower as
well as the best leader.

Retain your joy! Have fun! Be compatible with others. Balance time at church, home and
work. Take time to sit and get the Word.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Build relationships with other believers. Be involved in Life Groups. (This takes effort on
your part!)

Be big enough to be corrected, rebuked, or instructed.

Know that God is your source, not the church or any human.

Be willing to submit to authority. Do what you are instructed to do, not what you want to do.

Be very flexible and open to change.

Serve as if you were serving Jesus Himself. Don't be a man pleaser.

Remember loyalty and commitment, go beyond personal feelings.

Don't expect Pastor or anyone else to praise you, reward you, or thank you.

Have a servant’s heart and attitude. Remember, it is a privilege and honor to serve the
Living God!

Remember, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO SERVE, YOU GET TO SERVE!"

INDIVIDUAL DESTINY


Individual destiny is the purpose which God intends to fulfil and accomplish through you, all
that He has planned for your life.
Unless you and I discover and walk in God's divine destiny for our lives, all our "works" do
not count for anything.
 Jeremiah 29:11
 1Corinthians 3:13
 1Corinthians 12:14
 1Corinthians 5:6
 Luke 17:1
 Matthew 6:14-15
 Mark 11:25
CORPORATE DESTINY





God not only has an individual destiny for us, He also has a corporate destiny for us.
Corporate destiny is the combining of individuals into a local body for the purpose of
fulfilling a common destiny together.
When God relates to His church, He deals with us as a corporate body, not as individuals.
God holds the entire body responsible for each other's actions.
Wherever there is total unity in the church, there will also be unusual levels of blessings,
anointing, and power!
OFFENSES




Offense means lying in wait to trap or hurt.
Being offended is a tool the enemy will use to bring us into captivity or bondage, thereby
limiting our ability to achieve or receive God's best for our lives.
Opportunities to be offended will continuously come to you. Will you be able to recognize
them as traps and deal with them accordingly?
Our response to offenses will have a direct effect on our future.
FORGIVENESS


Throughout our lives we will continually be faced with situations where we may offended,
hurt, or wronged. God expects us to not only know how to forgive, but to actually forgive.
To forgive is to set the captive free you then find out that you were the captive.

CUSTOMER SERVICE





Matthew 20:25-28 - When you became a Christian, you became a representative of Jesus
Himself.
Jesus knew how to give great customer service! He did this by serving others, rather than
demanding service for Himself. (Romans 12:10)
Learn to purposely smile. Say "please" and "thank you. Introduce yourself to others.
Make eye contact, offer a firm handshake.
Remember that a lack of good customer service can be a handicap or even the downfall of
any organization. That downfall can include the church!
HYGEINE AND APPEARANCE





Colossians 3:17
While serving in the ministry, you are representing Jesus, your pastor, and the entire
church body.
While serving, always put forth your best effort to look your best and to be on your best
behavior.
Be mindful to wear deodorant, use breath mints, wash your hands, and regularly check
your appearance in the mirror!
Watch how you sit. Dresses and skirts should be appropriate length. (Over the knees when
sitting) and be mindful of tight fitting apparel.
SUBMISSION AND OBEDIENCE








Submission means to yield one's self to the power of another; to obey or surrender, to
comply.
Submission also means obedience to another's will. Obedience means submission to
restraint control or command.
Matthew 20:26-28 - Greatness in the Lord's kingdom doesn't come through rulership or
authority. It comes through serving others.
Our goal should be to serve not to rule.
John 5:30 - Jesus was totally submitted to the Father. He did not have His own agenda.
Don't make your own plans then ask God to bless them. Ask God what you should do, then
He will bless your plans.
Romans 5:19 - Your obedience or lack thereof, will affect others' eternal destiny.
Prequalification for church leadership is willingness to serve or submit
Ephesians - 5:21 - Be willing and ready to serve others. Be in subjection to them, not trying
to dominate them or exalt yourself. Preoccupation with yourself is sin!
Philippians 2:3-8 - Don't be selfish and try to make a good impression while others are
looking. Think of others before yourself. Help them with what they are doing.

74 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES


Give up your right to be right. Apologize first (even if you don't think you are wrong). Jesus
laid aside His power and glory to be like a mortal man and die a criminal's death, when He
did no wrong!
James 4:7 -True power is found in yielding to God. Whenever you submit there is a
covering over you. Our love for Christ is revealed in our obedience to His commandments.
REBELLION









Rebellion is resisting lawful authority.
1 Samuel 15:19-26- If you obey at first you won't have to offer sacrifices. God is much more
interested in you listening (to Him).
Don't be stubborn, or God will use someone more flexible.
To know of what is right and choose to do wrong is rebellion.
Verse 24- Because he feared the people and obeyed them, he rebelled. That is peer
pressure!
Genesis 3:6 - Satan tricked Eve into rebellion by suggesting she take her life into her own
hands and out of God's control.
Rebellion begins in Isaiah 14:12-14 - the heart being self-centered and not God- centered.
Be careful when you are always saying, "I want this", "I feel", "I think", "I don't want to do
this"! This indicates self-centeredness.
Hebrews 13:17; Romans 13:1
AUTHORITY




The power or right to command, act, enforce obedience, or make final decisions.
Ultimately, the one who will not submit to authority shall be a slave to him who does submit
to authority.
Authority is set up to execute God's order, not to uplift oneself. Remember that only the one
who is under authority can be in authority!
1 Peter 2:13-14; Luke 9:62; Colossians 1:19-29
DELEGATED AUTHORITY




Delegated authority is a representative of the original authority.
No one should have to make you submit to authority. Choose to yield yourself to those who
have been placed over you. (i.e., pastor, minister, leader, department head, team leader,
etc.)
Submission to authority is not a person being subjected to another person. It is submission
to the anointing on the inside of that person.
When serving, remember to not see the man, but the delegated authority vested in the
man.
Building a Community
75 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES




In God's view, those who reject His delegated authority reject Him.
It is impossible to hearken to God's word and not the words of His delegates.
If we are subject to God's authority, then we must also be subject to His delegated
authority!
Delegated authority comes from being in a representative capacity. It doesn't come
because the delegates themselves are smarter than the rest.

“Every day tell how he saves us. Tell the nations of his glory; tell all peoples the
miracles he does.” Psalm 96:2-3
A personal testimony is the most persuasive form of communication
The value of your testimony

It is unique! There are no others just like it.

It is personal and easy to understand.

You are the authority on it. It’s difficult to argue with.

People love to hear personal stories and they remember them.

People can relate to it. It builds a relational bridge.

FOUR PARTS OF YOUR TESTIMONY
1. What my life was like before I met Christ.

What substitute for God did you use to find meaning in your life (sports/fitness,
success at work, marriage, sex, making money, drugs/alcohol, having fun,
entertainment, popularity, hobbies)
2. How I realized I needed Christ.




What significant steps led up to your conversion?
What needs, hurts, or problems made you dissatisfied with the way you were
living without God?
How did God get your attention?
What motivated you?
3. How I committed my life to Christ.









What specifically did you do? Where did it happen?
What did you say in your prayer?
Be specific.
The difference it has made in my life.
What benefits have you experienced or felt?
What problems have been resolved?
How has Jesus helped you change for the better?
How has it helped your relationships?
Give a current example.

THE TESTIMONY PYRAMID
HOW TO LEAD INTO YOUR TESTIMONY

Listen for problems or needs that Jesus has helped you with.

“You know, that used to be a big issue in my life too (or my marriage, etc).

In fact, I felt pretty (hopeless, frustrated, etc.) But then I discovered something that
made a major difference in my life.”

Refer to something in the news or on TV that deals with a common need or problem.

Did you read about... I can sure identify with how those people feel. It wasn’t that long
ago that I struggled with that too. But then something happened that changed
everything for me...”

Start with a statement they’d agree with or situation they relate to.

“It seems like life is getting faster and faster.”

“Sometimes life just gets so complicated.”

“Life doesn’t always turn out the way you planned it.”

Apologize to people you’ve known a long time but haven’t witnessed to.


“Bill, I need to apologize to you. We’ve known each other a long time, and I consider
you to be a good friend. But friends don’t keep secrets – and I’ve never told you
about the best thing that ever happened to me. I guess I was afraid you’d think I
was some kind of nut. Anyway… (begin your story).”
Realize you have more than one testimony!

KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES

Different situations will require different testimonies.

Choose the testimony that best matches your listener.

Realize you can tell about how others’ lives have been changed too. Your life group can
share your stories with each other.

Don’t use religious terms or clichés or broad generalities.

Ask: “If I were an unbeliever, would this make sense to me?”
CLASS 501 – WEEK 2
COMMON GROUND CIRCUMSTANCES

God allows experiences in my life so I can relate to others who need Christ!

Could you give a testimony about how Jesus helped you with any of the following
experiences?

Positive: Adoption, breaking a bad habit, financial gain, raising kids, marriage
strengthened or restored, new baby, new business, new friends, new home, new

SHARING THE GOOD NEWS

What is the good news?


The Good News is how we can be saved, forgiven, and begin a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. The moment you trust in Christ, you are called and
commissioned to be a messenger of the Good News to people who haven't heard or
responded to it.
Memorize these 5 basic truths!
1. GOD BECAME A MAN - SO I COULD RELATE TO HIM

“It is the Good News about God’s Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who came as a
human baby, born into King David's royal family line; and by being raised from
the dead he proved to be the mighty Son of God, with the holy nature of God
himself.” Romans 1:3-4
2. JESUS DIED FOR MY SINS - SO I DON'T HAVE TO

“It is this Good News that saves you if you firmly believe it... that Christ died for
our sins. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, as
the Scriptures said.” 1 Corinthians 15: 2-4

KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES

“For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men's
sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has
given us to tell others.” 2 Corinthians 5:19
3. JESUS DESTROYED DEATH - SO THAT I CAN EXPEREIENCE ETERNAL LIFE

“Jesus destroyed death, and through the Good News he showed us the way to
have life that cannot be destroyed.” - 2 Timothy 1:10
4. SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT - SO I DON'T HAVE TO EARN IT

“People are made right with God by His grace, which is a free gift. They are
made

Right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. God gave
Jesus as a way to forgive sin through faith.” - Romans 3:24-25
5. IT IS BASED ON FAITH - SO ALL I HAVE TO DO IS REPENT AND BELIEVE

Jesus said, “Repent and believe the good news!" Mark 1:15

“The Good News shows how God makes people right with himself - that it begins
and ends with faith. As the Scripture says, ‘Those who are right with God will live
by trusting in him.’ Romans 1:17


It walks through how to establish a spiritual foundation


of God.” John 1:12

fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables." Matthew 13:34

LIGHTEN UP!
"The Son of man came enjoying life…" Luke 7:34

Avoid using dates, names, and ages. It doesn’t matter to them.

Be prepared. Practice it until it feels and sounds natural.

Read it aloud and edit it to make it conversational.

Let a friend read it and make suggestions.

Speak casually and informally, in a matter-of-fact tone.

Don’t dramatize or embellish your story.

Don’t share mystical experiences. Share on their level, not yours.

(assignments) with an “It’s just a job” or “I
can give notice anytime” mentality
Those who believe deeply in their mission Those who make statements like “that’s
and vision
not my problem” and point the fingers at
others when things go wrong
Those who collaborate with others
Those who don’t feel tied to the success
of the organization
Those who take initiative and hold coworkers accountable to the same high

LEADERSHIP PITFALLS EVERY BUSINESS PERSON MUST KNOW
LEADERSHIP PITFALL 1:
Basking in the current victories. Complacency!!!!

Never get stuck in your current success.

Too many become complacent by just enjoying the seeds of their success.

Always remember, “Yesterdays success ended last night!”

Whether success or failure, tomorrow always signifies a new beginning.

It’s essential to have the ability to let go of your success or failures

A sign of growth in your life is when what you did yesterday no longer thrills you, not
because you’re bored but because you’re growing.
Keys to Avoid Complacency

Determine where it exist in your life

Must be able to recognize it before you can avoid it

Joe Frazier stated, the punch that knocks you out is the one that you didn’t see

Never stop growing—growth equals change.


Continually ask yourself, “is there a better way!”

Always pay for outside consulting

Never protect the past—our tendency is to be defensive of our past, of decisions we’ve
made that WE want to protect.

Admit mistakes and MOVE ON!

Always build on your success, never sit on it.
LEADERSHIP PITFALL #2:
Having a disconnection with your staff, congregation, and leadership. ISOLATION!

Never lose touch with your people

An isolated leader is an ineffective leader

A true leader will never tell you it’s lonely at the top

If you are at the top alone, then no one is following you.

When leaders lose touch with people, they become ineffective

Avoid this pitfall by avoiding withdrawal that comes from success or failure.

Learn how to value people—they are your only appreciable asset.

Leadership has nothing to do with what your position is, but everything to do with what
your influence is

The more insecure your leader is the more titles they want.
The Remedies to Isolation:

Understanding the law of finance

One is too small to achieve great success

Remember to LOVE the people you LEAD

People don’t care how much you know till they know how much you care.
LEADERSHIP PITFALL #3:
Betrayal of trust. Trustworthiness.
Building a Community
108 | P a g e
KINGDOM BUILDING CLASSES

Trust is the foundation upon which relationships in every setting are built.

Receiving trust from others is a result of character, confidence and inconsistency.

The first thing we think about is “How much can we trust them?”
Ways to be a trustworthy leader:

Value character more than success.

Focus on shared goals more than personal agendas.

Stay away from politics

Do the right thing

Be accountable to others.

Follow the Golden Rule: treat others the way you would like to be treated.
LEADERSHIP PITFALL #4:
Failure to think realistically. REALISM.

The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality

Realism is your friend
Realistic questions to ask yourself before you launch, invest, or establish:

What is it that we have to achieve?

What we think we will achieve?

What can we hope to achieve?
Jack Welch’s rules of successful leadership

Control your destiny or someone else will

Face reality as it is, not as it was or as you wish it were.

Be candid with everyone.

Don’t manage…LEAD

Change, before you have to

If you don’t have the competitive advantage, don’t compete.
LEADERSHIP PITFALL #5:

Bad timing

The difference between a home run and a long foul ball is timing!

There are seasons of change that affect timing in any organization.

