1. What is a word processor? (1)
It is a computer application used to create modify print and e-mail documents.

3. How are formatting marks useful when editing a document? (1)
They show each different paragraph and spaces between words.

b) What happens if text is selected and then the Backspace key is pressed? (1)

Highlight the whole third paragraph. Right click. Left click copy. Place the insertion point at the end of
the document. Right click. Left click paste.
7. In a search for the word “Hat”, how can you avoid finding the word “hat”? (1)
Click more. Click match case.
8. List the steps required to find each occurrence of “day” and replace it with “week.” (1)
Click the arrow next to find. Click advanced find. Click replace. Type day in find what. Type week in
replace with. Click replace all.
9. a) What does “font” refer to? (1)

Part 3—Exercise 1 /14 marks:
When writing a letter that requests a response or information, the first paragraph should introduce the writer
and explain the purpose of the letter. The second paragraph should explain any necessary details of the
request and ask any additional questions. The third paragraph should thank the reader for his or her
consideration and emphasize the request.
a) In a new document create the following letter, allowing Word to wrap the text. Create the letter using
the block style. Be sure the indicate NO SPACING after the paragraphs, and press ENTER four times
before typing the return name and address. (8)
b) Check the document on screen and correct any errors and misspellings. Remove the red wavy line from
correctly spelled words.
c) Save the document naming it Ceramics Info Request in your CF 9 folder.
d) Publish this document in the Hand In page on your blog. (1)
e) Make the following changes to the letter:
 Change the word introductory to advanced in the first sentence. (1)
 Change the words a brochure to an application in the second paragraph. (1)
 Use the thesaurus to change the word quickly in the fourth paragraph to an appropriate
synonym. (1)
 Change Kallie Gavrilos at the end of the letter to your name. (1)
f) Press the FILE—SAVE AS button and name the revised document Ceramics Info Request Modified. This
document should now be in your CF 9 folder as well.
g) Publish this document in the Hand In page on your blog. (1)
h) Print this document and put it in the Hand In box at the back of the room
