Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences Executive Dean Work Health and Safety Award Terms of Reference The Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences Work, Health and Safety Award recognises the significant contributions that Faculty personnel make toward work health and safety within their workplaces. This Annual Award celebrates the exceptional achievements and initiatives of those who enrich safety standards in addition to their normal duties. Criteria Applicants must demonstrate significant achievements in one or more of the following criteria: 1. Enhancement of the safety culture within their area, School, or Faculty 2. Significant individual contribution toward work, health and safety 3. Innovative use of technology to reduce risks associated with an identified work, health and safety issue 4. Willingness to sharing safety innovation / expertise across the wider Faculty or University community 5. Demonstrated leadership to implement significant improvements in work health and safety 6. Development and implementation of a proactive work health and safety initiative 7. Exceptional leadership qualities following a safety incident Eligibility 1. Academic Staff, Professional Staff and Post-graduate students within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. 2. Casual, Contract or Continuing positions 3. Excludes members of the Faculty Safety and Facilities Unit. Applications 1. Applications may be self-nominated or by a second party. 2. Individuals or teams are eligible 3. If applicable the nominator may elect for specific aspects of the Application to remain confidential, e.g. research “Commercial in Confidence”. Selection Top 4 nominations to be short-listed by panel consisting of 1. Member of the Faculty Safety and Facilities Unit 2. Member of the University WHS Unit 3. Faculty General Manager (or nominee) Short-list to be submitted to Executive Dean Final Selection Executive Dean Faculty Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Process 1. Applications to be forwarded electronically to mnhs.safetyfacilities@flinders.edu.au 2. Closing date for Applications is the first Monday of November each year 3. The Faculty Safety and Facilities Unit receives all nominations and coordinates the selection panel to meet to short-list applications 4. Formal announcement of Award Recipient made by the Faculty Executive Dean (Chair of the Faculty H&S Committee) at the Faculty End of Year Function Communication Notifications coordinated via the Faculty Business Development Unit 1. Initial notification to Faculty personnel to inform them of the Award inception 2. Inclusion on the MNHS “News” section of Faculty website 3. Notification September / October seeking nominations 4.
