Abstract
This contribution suggests some wording changes to the text of the Draft ANSI/TIA-PN-968-B-2 addendum proposed in contribution TR41.9-13-11-007. While this whole issue arose out of discussions about wideband telephones and their ability to meet out-of-band emission requirements, the proposed change is not specific to wideband or narrowband analog telephones. Since these terms are not defined in
TIA-968-B, using them in this addendum could create confusion and is not necessary for its intended purpose. Wording changes are proposed for the Foreword and Scope that more directly reflect the actual text of the sub-clause that is being proposed for addition to ANSI/TIA-968-B. v1.0 – 20050426
Suggested revision for first paragraph of Foreword:
This document is an addendum to TIA-968-B, Telecommunications – Telephone Terminal
Equipment – Technical Requirements for Connection of Terminal Equipment to the Telephone
Network. It was developed to provide a new sub-clause on requiring the use of an acoustic input stimulus signal when testing analog telephones with electroacoustic transducers for out-of-band emissions and in-band longitudinal signals.
Suggested revision for first paragraph of Clause 1, Scope:
This addendum provides changes to TIA-968-B, Telecommunications – Telephone Terminal
Equipment – Technical Requirements for Connection of Terminal Equipment to the Telephone
Network. Clause 2 adds new informative references. Clause 3 adds a new sub-clause 5.1.9.4 specifying the use of an acoustic stimulus signal when testing analog telephones having electroacoustic transducers for live voice input for compliance with out-of-band emissions and inband longitudinal signal requirements. All other clauses in TIA-968-B are not affected.
Suggested revision for text of new sub-clause 5.1.9.4 as given in Clause 3:
5.1.9.4 Voice terminal equipment containing electroacoustic transducers for live voice input, including recording devices, shall comply with the limitations with a real male speech acoustic signal as specified in IEEE Std 269, set to a level of -4.7 dBPa, applied to the electroacoustic transducers.
