This practice exercise is divided into two parts. You Must complete the performance part
before the knowledge part.
You must read through the whole scenario assignment before starting.
The time allowed for the performance part and the knowledge part is one hour.
In the performance part of the exercise, you will carry out tasks based on a scenario using
an application of your choice. It is recommended that you allow approximately 45 minutes
to complete the performance part of the exercise. The pass mark for this part is 75%.
In the knowledge part of the exercise, you will answer some questions, which relate to the
work completed in the performance exercise. There are 12 tasks in this section. It is
recommended that you allow approximately 15 minutes to complete the knowledge part of
the exercise. The pass mark for this part is 75%.

You are employed as the manager at Victoria Park Branded Outlet in Ebbw Vale,
you have been asked to make some changes to the current newsletter, explaining
offers that are available for the Summer/Autumn 2012.
You have been asked to represent the company and prepare advertising material
for visitors to watch on a Smartboard in the Ebbw Vale Branch.
You have 45 minutes to complete the work.
Whilst data is presented to you in different formats, you should choose the most
suitable application for the task. The choice of application should also reflect the
most productive use of IT.
Consider the IT experience of the users who will view all the files; not all employees
who access the data have the skills as yourself. Ensure that data is presented
consistently.
Read through the scenario assignment. Ensure that the correct application is used
and that the intended data is used.
Instructions are given to save the file but good practice dictates that you should
save your work regularly during the assignment.

During the assignment you will be expected to:
Copy text from one application to another.
Distribute text and apply suitable page layouts.
Remove a graphical object.
Insert a graphical object to display on all pages.
Change font colour and font size so that the formatting is reflected on all pages.
Apply a theme or template to each page of data.
Insert photographs it illustrate the given text.
Resize photographs to fit available space.
Flip a photograph.
Create a graphical representation of data.
Create an organizational chart.
Apply settings to advance pages.
Check the spelling of the text before presenting to the public.
There are three files for the assignment:
 Victoria Park
 Outline Information
 Statistics

You should start the assignment by opening the file Victoria Park from your
Learner Drive.

The software application you choose for the assignment must be suitable to display
information on-screen, to be viewed by potential new members of the VIP discount
card.
 Open the file Outline Information. Copy each ‘item’ of data and paste it onto its
own page in the working file, Victoria Park
 The uppercase items are all page headings. Ensure that the text that
accompanies the headings are formatted with bullets and, where necessary,
sub-bullets.
 Save the file to your Learner Drive as Victoria Park adding your initials at the
end of the filename, for example Victoria Park SW
 Insert at least three of the supplied photographs onto pages that most suitably
represent the subject. Resize photographs to take advantage of space available
and ensure that photographs do not hide the text.
 Apply a green border to each photograph.
 The following text should be added as speaker notes on the pages indicated:

 The existing logo is incorrect. Replace it with victoria logo.

 Display the logo, in the bottom left corner of the page. Resize it to 1.9 cm high
and 2.5 cm wide and display it on all slides except the title page.
 Centre align the titles of each page.
 Enter the text Images taken from Nike and M&S websites into the footer of all
pages except the title page.
 Apply automatic page numbering and a date, to update automatically, into the
footer of all pages.
 On slide 8 insert the logo bags and horizontally flip it so that the green bag is
now on the left side of the logo.
 Insert a new page, position this new page as slide 7. The title of this page is
Profit 2011
 On this new page, create a graphical representation of the data in the file
Statistics and format the graphical representation as follows:

Insert the chart title: Statistical Figures for Current Brands

Do not display a legend.

Apply data labels to show the value.

Apply a background colour to the plot area.
 Insert a new page immediately after the Profit 2011 information. The page title
should be Our Structure. Create an organisational hierarchy to match the
layout illustrated below:

When all pages are complete for the Victoria Park presentation:
 Check the file for spelling mistakes using the most suitable tool for the
application. Make corrections where needed. You can safely ignore proper
names.
 Apply a design template to all pages and check for visual clarity.
 If necessary, reposition the logo, photographs and re-align the footer items.
 Ensure that similar page layouts are consistent.
 Ensure that the quality of the work is suitable for the intended audience.
 Find and replace all occurrences of Thursday and replace with Friday.
 Apply transition settings of your choice to all pages.
 No printouts are required.
