The Smoking Gun: Dangers of Smoking Assignments: There are two (2) assignments. The first assignment is to answer the questions in the section below. You will have to conduct some research on the web to find answers to the questions. The second assignment is to create an anti-smoking campaign using PowerPoint. The answers to the questions in the first section may help you with your presentation. The presentation you create should deliver a message about the dangers of smoking, tobacco products and the short and long term effects of the use of tobacco products. Assignment 1---Answer the following questions using the web to research Instructions: Answer the following questions using websites listed in the “My Links” section of the menu in the upper right hand corner of Mr. Felix’s website which can be launched from the Coronado H.S. home page. Answer the following questions in complete sentences using 12 point, Times New Roman Font. Put your name on the completed product and turn in as soon as it is complete. Assignment 2---Power Point Presentation Instructions: Create an Anti-Smoking campaign using PowerPoint Maximum of 11 slides (1 slide must be a bibliography) Graphics and photographs should be appropriate and germane to presentation Student should avoid using terminology and verbiage they do not understand. Additionally student should be able to answer basic questions about conditions/diseases. Short term effects and long term effects Student is expected to make analytical links between the various forms of information 1. What impact does the media, entertainment and advertising have on a person to begin or cease smoking? 2. What influence does peer pressure or culture have on a person in regard to them trying tobacco or smoking? 3. Find and list statistics about tobacco, smoking or smoker’s that are interesting or previously unknown to you that will discourage a peer from smoking or encourage them to quit if they are currently a smoker. 4.
