ELEMENT IN A BOX PROJECT Name: Pd: Objective: Apply knowledge of concepts learned in class and information collected from the internet and books to create an element box that highlights a specific element from the periodic table. Things you should do: Make your box look like a real cereal box (colorful, fun, etc.) Use computers to make your design, look professional. No cutting and pasting, the entire box must be designed on computer. Come up with funny slogans, clever mascots, or hilarious ad gimmicks. The whole box should be disguised with a covering so that the original package design/logos are completely covered. BE CREATIVE!! ELEMENT IN A BOX RESEARCH 1. The front panel Element Symbol: Element Name: Cereal Name : Cereal Slogan: Due: Picture of a mascot 2. Back panel Goto http://www.easybib.com/, type in the information of the website you used to fill out the below. Copy and paste the generated bibliography here: Include a periodic table square for your element complete with atomic number, symbol, element name, and atomic mass. (in the box above) # of Protons : # of Neutrons : # of Electrons : Draw an atomic model of an atom of your element (in the box above) Name of the group : At least 5 Properties of the group: Electron configuration : # of Valence electron: How does the number of valence electron affect reactivity? List all occurring isotopes and its abundances. Create a list (at least 4) of compounds of your element and explain their uses. 3. Right Panel Written description and color picture of what your element looks like (Include ALL: Color, state of matter, metal/nonmetal/metalloid, Group name, period, melting and boiling points, and state at room temperature) HIGHLIGHT these terms in your writing.
