WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3RD
Please continue your lab today.
TO COMPLETE PART 3:
You will need to collect chromosomal karyotypes
from me. These are located up front; one per
person.
•
•
Please bring your book tomorrow.
Please read Chapter 9, Cellular Respiration.
PRE-LAB POINTERS:
1.
Include the title: Inquiry into Cell DivisionMitosis as well as the date (12.2.2014)
FYIOBJECTIVES--List the first two bulleted objectives
on the 4th page of your lab manual.
2. RELEVANT TERMS—mitosis, meiosis, MPF, CDK,
cytokinesis, G1 checkpoint, G2 checkpoint
Introduction: Include background information and
purpose of the lab; We will brainstorm a hypothesis
for part 3 as a class.

cells
Write the procedures provided in your lab manual; however,
SUMMARIZE these!

- Include the data table (table 1- Mitosis Phase Counts)
- For part 3, Loss of Cell Control in Cancer, please
Include the following table:
HEALTHY CELLS
CASE 1: HeLa CELLS
CASE 2: PHILADELPHIA
CHROMOSOMES
# OF CHROMOSOMES
APPEARANCE
For each case, answer these questions on the bottom of page S90:
1. Do your observations support your hypothesis?
2. If not, what type of information might you need to know in order to understand your
observations?
3. If yes, what type of information can you find that would validate your conclusions?
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
Provide what is asked for on your scoring guide.
In addition, you will have many LAB QUESTIONS
