Web-based Lesson Plan Lesson/Unit Title: Significant jazz musicians of the “bebop” era Setting/Grade Level: High School Time needed for lesson: Multiple day lesson, 45 minute sessions Long-term unit goals: At end of unit, students will be tested on whether they have absorbed and processed the information of the unit. This will be evaluated in a testing environment where students will be asked to identify, through a listening example, who the bebop artist is. Bonus or additional points will be assigned based on the amount of “extra” pertinent information is provided, to include name of song, album, members of band, release date. Further, students will be required to identify what is and isn’t bebop jazz. This will also be evaluated through listening and will require students to listen to short musical selections and evaluate through acquired information during lessons to determine if it is or is not bebop jazz.
