Directions:
1. Take out a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil.
2. In the upper right hand corner, write your name (first and last), period date and table
number.
3. On the first line Write the title your : “Science Goals Essay”.
4. Follow the outline below to write a 5 paragraph essay about yourself. Indent for each
new paragraph!
1st Paragraph- Introduce your essay, by providing background information about yourself.

What are your hobbies? what do you do for fun?
What kind of the science did you study last year ? What grade did you earn?
Over all did you have a positive or negative experience in this class? Explain

What are your academic goals for this year? What do you want to accomplish this year?
2nd Paragraph- In this paragraph, describe your academic goal.
1. Why have you set this academic goal for yourself?
2. When did you decide to make a goal and how often do you think about this academic
goal?
3. Is this goal important to anyone else besides you (maybe your parents/guardians,
teachers,etc.)?
4. Why? Explain in detail.
5. The best way to reach a goal is by setting a plan of action and knowing what you will do
to reach your goal. Describe 3 things you will do to make certain you reach this goal.
3rd Paragraph- In this paragraph describe the challenges of reaching your goal.
1. Besides having a plan of action, recognizing obstacles/challenges to reach your goal is
also very important. Describe 3 things that might stop you from achieving this
academic goal?
2. What will you do to prevent these things from stopping you?
3. Think about your work habits and how often you take responsibility for your decisions.
How is making good choices and thinking about consequences of poor choices
important to your goal?
4. My goal as your teacher is to help you do well in school and reach your academic goals.
Describe two things I can do to help you reach your goal.
5. How can your parents help you reach your goal?
6. Celebrating goal success is also a very important part of goal settting. When you
accomplish your academic goal at the end of the school year, how do you plan to
celebrate this success( keep it clean and academic)?
4th Paragraph: In this paragraph describe your life-long goals.
1. So far you have only written about academic goals. Now I want you to think about
your life goals. What is your life goal? In other words, what do you want to do when
you grow up? Be honest and real and don’t write that you don’t know. There is
something you are interested in. What looks cool to you? This could be going to college
and getting a career; maybe it could be a pro skater, hair stylist, make-up artist,
cartoonist. Just tell me what you want for yourself as an adult.
2. How do you plan on reaching this goal? Be specific.
3. Is being successful in school important to reaching this goal? Why ?
4. Will accomplishing your current academic goal help you reach your life long goal?
Paragraph 5: This is the conclusion of your essay.
1. List two ways in which learning Science can help you reach your life-long goal?

year?
3. What grade do you hope to achieve in this Class?
