What Is Drama?
Drama is a form of literature meant to be
preformed in front of an audience. The
characters’ dialogue and actions tell the
story. The written form of a drama is
known as a script. The script includes
dialogue, a cast of characters, and stage
directions that give instructions about
performing the drama.

People that Helped
He was the father of Bep. Johan
had worked since 1937 as a
warehouse manager for Otto
Frank. He was the only one of
the warehouse staff who knew
about the people in the hiding
place. He kept an eye on things
and because he was so handy, he
was asked to hammer the
bookcase that hid the access to
the Secret Annex. In 1943, he
became seriously ill. He had
stomach cancer and can no
longer work. Willem van Maaren
succeeded him as warehouse
supervisor.
Johan Voskuijl
He took over as warehouse
manager in 1943 when Johan
Voskuijl fell seriously ill. He’s
unaware of the people hiding in
the building, but he's an
inquisitive type and became
suspicious. The people in the
Secret Annex noticed that he's
setting traps in the warehouse.
He placed papers on the corners of tables so
that they fell off if you walk past. He was a
suspect in two investigations into the betrayal
of the people in the Annex, in 1948 and 1963.
But no conclusive proof ever came to light.
